Description:

San Miguel Community Services District is an unincorporated community in the County of San Luis Obispo, located 7 miles north of the City of Paso Robles, CA.

The District is currently in the planning phase for a complete redesign and repurpose of the Machado Wastewater Treatment Facility including converting from ponds to a MBR package plant. Construction of the new plant is estimated to start mid to end of 2024.

Deadline for Employment Applications:

This recruitment will remain open for each position until filled or otherwise closed by the San Miguel Community Service District. The San Miguel Community Services District may close recruitment at any time for any reason.

Work Schedule:

All Operator positions are full-time positions on a 9-80 schedule. An offset schedule may be implemented in the future as needed.

These positions are also required to participate in a scheduled on-call rotation. Personnel who are on-call are required to be within 30 minutes of the District and are required to remain unimpaired.

Minimum State Water Resources Control Board Certification Requirements:

WWTF Operator Lead - Wastewater Treatment Grade 3, Water Distribution Grade 2 (applicants without a Water license or those who are in the process of getting certified are encouraged to apply)

Field Operator Lead - Water Distribution Grade 2, Water Treatment Grade 2, Wastewater Treatment Grade 1, (applicants without a Wastewater license or those who are in the process of getting certified are encouraged to apply)

FIELD Operator - Water Distribution Grade 1, Water Treatment Grade 1, Wastewater Treatment Grade 1

Copies of Operator Certificates issued by the State of California must be included with the job application packet. Professional resumes may also be included with a completed SMCSD Job Application.

A valid California Class C driver’s license is required at time of hire and must be maintained throughout employment. (A Class “A” license with Airbrake endorsement is highly desirable)

Education: High School diploma or equivalent; Courses in water, wastewater, reclaimed water, engineering, biology, chemistry, or related fields are desirable.

Experience:

WWTF Operator Lead: A minimum of four years of experience (with demonstrated increased responsibility) working in operation and maintenance in a grade 2 (or above) water or wastewater treatment plant. Experience at a MBR plant is highly desirable.

Field Operator Lead: A minimum of four years of experience (with demonstrated increased responsibility) working in water and/or wastewater operation and maintenance in a grade 2 (or above) water or wastewater system.

ALL Positions:

Demonstrated comprehension of California and Federal OSHA requirements and their application; ability to safely operate all construction related vehicles and equipment; ability to effectively utilize a personal computer/tablet, peripherals, and software such as Word, Excel, Outlook, Share Point; proven ability to organize and manage competing priorities; other related training in treatment plant maintenance, well maintenance, tank maintenance and infrastructure maintenance is desirable. Experience in, and knowledge of, recycled water systems is desirable.

Compensation:

Starting wage will be based on certification and experience.
