We're looking for someone to fill out our amazing front door crew at The Hatch and Della's in downtown Paso Robles. The position must be filled by a warm and gracious person who thinks quickly, makes timely decisions, and can handle multiple responsibilities while maintaining a pleasant and welcoming demeanor. This is a great position for someone who's looking to get some socialization a few nights a week, but it is not an entry-level position.

We can train the right candidate however past experience in a role that required fast thinking and logistics is a plus.

3 shifts/week, plus the flexibility to pick up additional shifts to cover other employees, are available for the right candidate. The restaurants are both dinner-only (opening at 4:30 daily) and hosts must be able to work most weekends. The host station is outside and shaded so candidates must be able to thrive in an outdoor environment. Fans and heaters are provided as needed.

POSITION SUMMARY

Create the initial warm feeling that greets guests upon entering the restaurants. Think and act quickly and efficiently to seat the dining room in a way that maximizes the space. Simultaneously manage a waitlist, take and fulfill takeout orders, take and modify reservations over the phone, and generally set the pace of the restaurant. Exchange warm greetings with guests entering and exiting the restaurants.

PRIMARY

o Promote, work, and act in a manner consistent with the mission of The Hatch Group: To cook for people, grow food, offer a warm space, and run a responsible business to the end that we are fulfilled and can spread that fulfillment to others.

o Warmly and graciously greet all guests, giving options for how they can be accommodated

o Open the front door for guests entering or leaving the restaurant when possible.

o Assign guests to tables suitable for their needs while maximizing the restaurant space.

o Speak with guests to ensure satisfaction with food and service, to respond to complaints, or to make conversation.

o Maintain contact with management, waiters, and guests to ensure that dining details are handled properly and customers' needs and those of the restaurant are addressed.

o Direct guests through their experience whether being seated right away, being quoted a wait time, or purchasing takeout.

o Relay messages clearly and concisely to servers and stewards.

o Thank guests as they leave and invite them to return.

o Coordinate with and assist fellow employees to meet guests' needs and support the operation of the restaurant as it pertains to bussing or resetting tables.

SPECIFIC DUTIES

o Assign seating and maximize the dining area by taking reservations at the correct times, seating guests as open tables allow, seating complete parties, and making timely decisions as to where to seat guests.

o Manage a waitlist on a "first come, first served" basis and quote accurate wait times.

o Inspect host station, takeout area and menus to ensure cleanliness and proper setup.

o Manage reservations within the Yelp Reservations system.

o Sanitize front door and host station on a predetermined schedule.

o Answer telephone calls and respond to inquiries about the restaurants or a guest's specific reservation.

o Take to-go orders, ensure accuracy, and process payments.

o Operate point of sale system to accurately order and accept payments for cocktails and other beverages.

o Be familiar with spirits inventory and daily specials.

o Transfer checks accurately and promptly to guests' final seats.

QUALIFICATIONS

o 18 years of age or older

o Able to understand and speak English

o Able to handle money and operate a point-of-sale system

o Able to work in a standing position for long periods of time

o Excellent verbal communication skills

o References from former employers
