WANTED: Reporter – City, News & Features

Weekly print newspaper looking for a News Reporter. Est. 25 hours/week in-person.

Salary negotiable. Ideal job for journalists living in Oakland-Berkeley area.

Job is 1099, not W-2

Responsibilities

-Write News articles on the city of Piedmont

-Write profiles and feature articles occasionally for Arts and Entertainment section

-Assignments require coverage locally and include public meetings and community

events.

-Meet deadlines

-Must be available for longer work hours on deadline nights, Tuesdays, 12:00 - 9:00 p.m.

-Busiest work days are Sunday, Monday, Tuesday

Qualifications

-Experience in print journalism is recommended

-All skilled writers are welcome to apply, but journalism experience will set you apart.

-Must be good on the phone, making connections, fostering relationships and dealing

with a tight-knit community.

-Knowledge of AP style

-Ability to conduct phone and in-person interviews
