Summit Technology Group has an immediate, full-time opening for Certified Journeyman Electricians with residential experience, excellent customer service skills, a positive attitude, integrity, a strong work ethic and a desire to help us grow with our company.

JOB SUMMARY:

The Certified Residential Electrician (1) is responsible for installation, repairing and maintaining all electrical systems specific to residential new and remodel construction. They install equipment such as switches, relays and circuit breaker panels. Identify electrical problems with a variety of testing devices. Repair or replace wiring and fixtures using hand tools and power tools, measure, cut, assemble, and install electrical wiring for residential construction. May be part of a crew or the lead directing a crew.

Other duties may be assigned.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Demonstrate basic knowledge of conduit bending and wire pulling.

Responsible for field change orders, RFI’s and daily job reports

Install all sizes of conduit with general supervision.

Terminate junction boxes

Installing NM sheathed cable

Drilling wood members and locations

Knowing residential Codes for GFCI and AFCI installations

Should have knowledge of Title 24

Know kitchen plug layouts

Know small appliance circuits installation

Set up wire pull

Perform fixture connections and rough in

Perform underground rough in

Demonstrate and apply basic knowledge of blueprint reading and electrical layout

Demonstrates and applies general knowledge of electrical materials and tools

Material handling and organizing

Keep work area clean

Maintain current knowledge of news, trends and technology in the industry

Understand and comply with all safety requirements

Operate all equipment and tools in a safe manner

Wear all necessary personal protective equipment when required (including hard hat, safety glasses at all times)

Possess skills of lower E-Rating Job Title (ET-3, ET-2, ET-1)

Company policy prohibits ET-1, ET-2, ET-3 and ET-4 from working on energized circuits or equipment

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Certified Residential Electrician will supervise a crew of 1-2 Electrical Trainees per job

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Must hold a valid Certified Residential Electricians Card

Must have three years of previous electrical experience

Must hold a current Driver’s License

Must have reliable transportation

Must have required personal tools with them at all times (waist tool belt as worn weighs approximately 30 lbs)

Proficient knowledge of residential construction practices

Familiar with NEC book

Must use all power tools, saws, threaders, wire tuggers, hydraulic benders, and knockout punches

Must be able to operate two handed tools/equipment, cable cutters, hammer drills, compression tools, jack hammers

Operate company trucks with manual and automatic transmission

Operate and work from mechanical personnel lifts (electric or gas powered)

Read and interprets maps, instructional manuals, specifications, work site directions, blue prints and written instructions

Possess skills of lower ET-rating job title (ET-3, ET-2 and ET-1)

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

High School Graduate, holder of G.E.D., or equivalent training

Must hold a valid Certified Residential Electricians Card

Must have 3 years of previous electrical experience

Must have 1-5 years previous journeyman level supervisory experience

CPR certified

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Speak, read and write in English

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Basic math skills and conversions

COMPUTER SKILLS:

Basic computer understanding

Lift 50lbs

Work from all types of ladders (step ladders up to 14’, “A” frame ladders and all size extension ladders and carry and relocate up to 12’ step ladder by one’s self)

Employee’s personal weight and personal tools cannot exceed weight limit of ladder (Class 1-250lbs, Class 1A-300lbs)

Constantly moving on your feet

Perform work at various heights, up to 30’ from ladders, scaffold, aerial lifts, catwalks, or other safe work areas

Work in restricted areas (switchgear room, manholes, utility tunnels, crawl spaces, and attics)

Repetitive use of arms, hands and fingers

Capable of digging trenches, either by use of hand tools or power equipment

Able to work 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week, overtime as required and night shifts

Completing overhead work for full day assignments

Must be able to make transition from employee parking area or street into construction work areas and gain access to all levels of the building, even if the only means of access is by OSHA approved site construction ladder or stairs still under construction but acceptable for use

Possess good vision (normal or corrected)
