Have you ever worked for a photographer? Do you love the idea of helping produce photoshoots? Can you tie a tie and tuck in shirts? Are you charged with the idea of meeting new people every day? Do you love working in new places and environments? Would you like to be a reliable part of a creative and well-oiled school picture day team?

MugsyClicks School Photography is looking for photo assistants to join our school photography team for the 2024 Fall Season. Our photo days are about organized-fun and creativity. Our team is known for making people feel comfortable in front of the camera and skillfully managing natural light portraits on volume.

We are hiring reliable individuals to help our photographers run and produce school picture days. The work involves everything from preparing photography equipment, driving gear to location, assisting photographers with lighting and styling portraiture, helping manage students, and working as a team.

The ideal assistant is observant, has a light touch, and is a quick study. They don’t mind being asked to do things by busy photographers and they learn quickly and observe how to be of help without getting in the way. They stay engaged on the job and find ways to be productive. They enjoy laughter and show up to work with a positive attitude. They treat people with respect and communicate well with everyone. Courteous, mindful, and compassionate.

No previous photography experience is needed, although this is a great opportunity for those interested to learn more about photography.

The work begins August 1st and our season lasts to December 10th.

Positions available:

5 openings for Monday through Friday, 30-40 hours/week (required to drive Mugsy vehicles from San Rafael all over bay area)

4 openings for Monday through Friday shifts, 15-30 hours/week

1 On Call position available

Schedules are set a month in advance

A driver’s License is required, along with a clean record. Assistants are expected to have their own means of transportation, but carpooling is encouraged.

We are ideally seeking assistants available and willing to drive MugsyClicks vans from our studio in Marin to job sites throughout Marin, San Francisco, East Bay, and Sonoma.

Ability to lift 40 lbs.

The assistant rate is $20/hr. Shifts are generally 4-8 hours a day.
