Product Designer

10x Genomics, Inc. in Pleasanton, CA seeks Product Designer.

Responsibilities: As a member of the Product Design Team, you will be responsible for designing software, web experiences, and impactful features that accelerate scientific research. More specific duties include: collaborating with product management, engineering teams, and QA to define innovative solutions and high quality features for the product direction, visuals, and overall user experience; conceptualizing original ideas, bringing simplicity and user-friendliness to complex design roadblocks; creating concepts, designs, and data visualizations; designing software, interfaces, and experiences for scientists, primarily on web; preparing and testing prototypes of novel 10x Genomics products; gathering user requirements (features, usability considerations, and/or pain points) and conducting user research sessions; using a variety of skills (data visualization, data analysis, business strategy, and relevant deep knowledge of other fields) to design new 10x Genomics products and taking part in crafting strategy and roadmap across our software portfolio; and other duties as assigned. Employee may be stationed anywhere in continental U.S., reporting to 10x’s headquarters in Pleasanton, California. Salary Range $148k - $170k.

Education: Master’s degree in Graphic Design, Interaction Design, Web Design, or a related Human-Computer Interaction field (or foreign equivalent).

Requirements: Six (6) months of experience in job offered or related positions. Other special requirements: Six (6) months of experience conducting user research, synthesizing insights, using results to create user journey maps, and revising design concepts based on usability test results and feedback; six (6) months of experience in information architecture, wireframing, prototyping, and visual designing on responsive websites; six (6) months of experience defining and maintaining design systems and reusable components for effective translation of designs into implementation-ready specifications; six (6) months of experience in concept development and creating concept documents and high fidelity user interface designs in Figma; and six (6) months of experience with HTML, CSS, and Javascript.
