Join the Sonoma County Water Agency (Sonoma Water) as a Water Agency Maintenance Worker II!
As a Water Agency Maintenance Worker II (WAMW II) you will be responsible for carrying out semi-skilled, light and heavy manual water- and wastewater-maintenance tasks, inspecting and cleaning sanitary sewer lines, and operating and repairing reclaimed irrigation fields. Additionally, you may operate heavy equipment, Class A vehicles, and a variety of trucks including combos, rodders, and tankers.
Additional duties include:
Performing trail, access, and service road maintenance
Performing vegetation maintenance including mowing, weed eating, pruning, and chipping trees and operating a variety of related equipment
Repairing and installing treatment distribution systems, as well as flood control and river channels
Digging trenches, repairing pipes, and removing silt and other debris
Installing, repairing, and removing fences
The ideal WAMW II candidate will have good communication skills and be interested in continually learning new skills and processes.
Additionally, the ideal candidate will also possess:
General knowledge of underground construction techniques, riparian ecology, and/or fuel reduction concepts such as shaded fuel breaks
Experience using hand and power tools and operating heavy equipment
Experience pruning trees and performing other vegetation management duties
One or more of the following desirable licenses/certifications, which are not required to be considered for the open position:
Arborist Certification issued by the International Society of Arboriculture
California Class A Commercial Driver's License and commercial driving experience
California State Water Resources Control Board Water Distribution Grade D1 or higher and/or a Water Treatment Grade T1 or higher
California Water Environment Association Grade I or higher Collection System Maintenance Certificate
Lateral Assessment Certification
Manhole Assessment Certification
Pipeline Assessment Certification
Qualified Applicator's License issued by the California Department of Pesticide Regulation
