GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION

A Mission District staple for nearly three decades, Atlas Café is a neighborhood hub with loyal regulars, a sunny corner, and room to grow. We’re entering our next chapter—new full-beverage license, refreshed systems, and a revamped service style—looking for a GM who wants real ownership over results. Role Summary:

Lead and oversee all day-to-day operations at Atlas Café, ensuring seamless service, consistent guest experience, and operational excellence. This role requires a hands-on leader who can motivate the team, maintain high hospitality standards, and implement scalable systems across service, menu execution, and the café’s expanding beer, wine, and spirits program.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Operations: Open/close procedures, service standards, floor management, incident reporting.

Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal health, safety, and labor regulations.

People Management: Recruit, train, and develop team members across front and back of house.

Foster a positive, inclusive, and high-performance culture.

P&L: Focus on managing and optimizing COGS, labor, and waste goals; invoice/credits oversight; cash handling.

Track daily sales, expenses, and profit margins; prepare weekly and monthly reports for ownership.

Work with vendors to ensure quality supplies at competitive prices.

Menu & Bar: Maintain recipe adherence, par levels, and quality standards for both food and beverages.

In charge of accurate execution of approved menus and pricing.

Ordering & Vendors: Maintain parts; place orders; verify deliveries; manage rebates and shortages.

Strong vendor relationships to ensure consistency and value.

Inventory & Controls: Lead Monthly counts (food, beer, wine, spirits); draft-loss tracking; comp/void audits.

Perform comp/void audits to reduce shrinkage.

Guest Experience: Table turn, speed-of-service, and hospitality standards Address guest escalations with professionalism and empathy.

Compliance: ABC, health, safety, ADA, and city regs; maintain permits and logs.

Ensure all required permits, inspections, and operational logs are up to date.

Facilities: Preventive maintenance calendar; coordinate repairs; keep FOH/BOH photo ready.

Marketing & Events: Execute approved promos; support social/email with on-site content; host small events.

Support social media and email efforts with on-site content and host small-scale events that align with Atlas Café’s community focus.

REQUIREMENTS (QUALIFICATIONS):

3–5+ years FOH/GM experience in café/restaurant/bar settings

Proven P&L ownership and cost control

Strong people leadership and training chops

Proficiency POS/inventory proficiency (Toast/Square, MarginEdge, or similar)

Comfortable with hands-on service and a fast, high-volume floor

Strong leadership and people management skills with a focus on teamwork and accountability.
