Harmonic Brewing is a local brewery dedicated to Bay Area Craft, Culture, and Community. Our Thrive City taproom & event venue opened in 2021, situated in the public plaza surrounding the Golden State Warriors’ Chase Center complex. This communal gathering place has become our company focus, serving craft beer, wine, and food in a high volume, yet friendly format. With strong momentum and veteran staff in place, we are seeking a rockstar GM to maximize Harmonic’s immediate opportunity.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
The General Manager will optimize operations and drive company profitability, focusing on Thrive City taproom operations. The best manager candidate will show an ability to:
Drive revenue & profit
Retain & attract talented employees
Improve & enforce standard operating procedures (SOPs)
The main components of the job are as follows:
P&L Management
Drive profitability based on P&L analysis and management
Improve menu profitability, with a focus on food
We are testing a new Lunch menu, which is an immediate growth opportunity
Increase average order value
Sales/Marketing/Communications
Maintain high customer satisfaction and loyalty
Drive awareness, repeat customers, and new foot traffic
Collaborate with Events Manager to boost group & buyout business
Collaborate with Warriors Retail Mgr (landlord) and other Thrive City retail businesses to promote public events
Interface with social media staffer to develop strategy & content that support the overall brand & offering, as well as specific revenue streams & promotions
Re-develop other marketing channels such as newsletter, website, and local outreach
Staff Management
Foster and maintain a positive work environment in order to attract and retain talent
Schedule employee shifts using 7shifts software and assign duties effectively
Support staff with service functions, particularly at peak times
Ensure employees are properly trained and certified
Provide on-going direction & coaching to employees, and conduct quarterly & annual reviews
Leverage sales & payroll report data to improve staffing efficiency
Operations
Manage taproom, including inventory / ordering and organization
Improve & enforce SOPs for opening, closing, and various aspects of service
Manage Toast POS on both the back-end (menu updates) and front-end (staff usability)
Work with ownership to make improvements to facility and any/all aspects of product & process
REQUIREMENTS
This is a full-time position, with some long days and weekends required, including working on your feet. However, this is not a typical “restaurant burnout” type of role. It is a leadership position that will leverage an existing support system, including landlord, ownership, back office, and veteran bar & kitchen staff.
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent strongly preferred
2+ years in management at a high volume restaurant, bar, event venue, or similar business
Knowledge of and passion for the local craft beer industry
Strong interpersonal communication skills
A positive, ethical, and friendly disposition
Experience with the following software, or similar:
Toast POS
7shifts Scheduling
G-Suite
MS Excel / Google Sheets
Adherence to local labor, health, and safety regulations
Commitment to customer service and professionalism
Strong problem-solving aptitude and ability to make decisions in a fast-paced environment
Demonstrated ability to manage P&L and drive profitability, particularly through menu costs and SOPs
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
$80,000-110,000 based on experience and performance
10 days (80 hours) paid time off per year
