One of just 24 Oakland restaurants mentioned in the Michelin Guide, Burdell is centered on nostalgia, family recipes, and sourcing. Named for owner and James Beard nominated Chef Geoff Davis’ maternal grandmother, this dining hit is a tribute to the forgotten impact of Black farming, ranching, fishing, foraging, and culture on American cuisine and hospitality.

The menu highlights the farmers and artisans harvesting and creating excellent products around us.

In addition to a thoughtful food menu, our robust list of wine is hand picked from producers worldwide who farm and craft with care using sustainable practices and our beverage program focuses on creating a well rounded cocktail to complement any meal.

What we’re looking for

After an accolade laden first year, we are currently hiring for professional servers who can provide an exceptional dining experience to our guests and locals in the Temescal neighborhood of Oakland.

If you have a compulsion for impeccable service and a warm, welcoming demeanor, we are looking to fill a part time position with full time potential.

Burdell service focuses on creating memorable experiences for our guests through genuinely attentive and knowledgeable hospitality. We strive to offer service rooted in treating our guests and staff with authentic respect.

Communication, accommodation, confidence and grace, as well as an ability to multitask, are essential for success in this position.

Responsibilities: Including but not limited to providing high-quality service, ensuring guest satisfaction, managing tables and cleanliness, maintaining and improving menu knowledge, communicating wholly with kitchen and floor management

Desired Qualities: Professional acumen, strong communication skills, attentive and efficient service skill set, ability to work well in a team

Minimum of 3 year's server experience within a hospitality and culinary-focused environment is preferred

A strong desire to learn more about wine and innovative beverage programs.

Efficient, intermediate knowledge of OpenTable and Toast POS

California Food and Alcoholic Beverage Licenses that are required in order to work within the food, beverage, and/or health services environment.
