The Irishman is a startup business. Initially consisting of one food truck serving authentic
traditional Irish foods, bringing the taste of Ireland to California. Our mission is to nourish people
through culture and hospitality. Responsibilities include but are not limited to initial business
process set up to the full hands-on of day-to-day operations, staff management and ensuring
the highest quality food is produced. This role will be responsible for overseeing and defining
work planning and product allocation needs while maintaining food safety standards and
supporting training of the team. This role takes complete ownership of tasks including sourcing
and placing ingredient orders, creating prep lists and menu creation.
The role supports the mission by upholding quality and safe food services to enhance the
productivity and morale of the workforce while ensuring the staff is performing to company
standards.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Work with leadership to help promote the business
Source cost effective ingredients
Build lasting relationships with suppliers
Work with leadership to plan services, menus, and production
Set and enforce standards of kitchen operation
Fill in at cooking stations as needed
Monitor quality and consistency of food products
Maintain clean and safe workstations
Monitor cleaning of kitchen equipment and work areas
Facilitate effective communication of team
Write and plan menus; create prep list, and place orders
Play a key role in training all staff
Enforce proper food safety practices with staff
Coordinate and enhance time management for team
Support ongoing staff development
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
Culinary degree and 7+ years industry experience; or 10+ years of food services
industry experience in lieu of a degree
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
Proficient in all Irish recipes and cooking methods, sauce making, and meat and
vegetable preparations
Leadership experience
Experience in a commercial environment
Experience with batch cooking or high-volume operations
Advanced knife skills and knowledge of kitchen equipment
Strong time management skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Experienced with Microsoft word, excel, and outlook
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must be fully verse with authentic traditional Irish recipes
Customer service/guest interaction experience
Ability to write menus, prep lists, and create orders effectively
Ability to carry large heavy items unassisted (up to 25 lbs.)
Ability to stand for long periods of time – up to 8 hours a day
Must be able to work all shifts and be available for overtime and weekends
Ability to perform frequent bending, stooping, and lifting of objects
Must participate in internal leadership and development training
Must have or be able to obtain manager level food safety certification
