The Assistant Director will assist the Director in the operation of the Center. The Assistant Director will assume full responsibility of the Center in the Director’s absence.

Our ideal candidate is someone who believes in the value of early childhood learning and is capable of handling a wide variety of responsibilities in a high-pressure environment. They must enjoy working with children and be passionate about the development of infants, toddlers, and young children. They want to provide the students at the daycare center with the best possible experience.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assist the Director in the daily operations of the Child Care Center (enforcing ACCC policies and procedures, as required), ensuring a safe, happy, and stimulating environment for children.

Ensure that either the Director or Assistant Director are present on the premises during the hours of operation of the Center.

Excellent communication skills; communicate concerns with the Director

Work alongside the Director to develop, manage, and coordinate curricula with staff that comply with NAEYC, ECERS, and state, and federal requirements including conducting re-accreditation.

Assist the Director in ensuring the facility is safe and well-stocked, including checking that safety equipment is available and working, removing hazards, and ensuring the facility is always clean, orderly, and in compliance with laws and regulations.

Knowledgeable in Title 22 regulations.

Collaborate with the Director on staff development needs and annual performance reviews

Support staff in maintaining child/teacher ratios throughout the day, covering for teachers, if ratios require.

Maintain enrollment and waitlist.

Maintain ACCC parent, classroom, and staff email lists, as well as children’s data in ProCare.

Provide supportive assistance to new teachers, parents, and other staff

Schedule needs and services meetings and parent/teacher conferences

Update children’s records and files

Assist Director with the meal program and work with cook to organize meals.

Complete ongoing training and courses to remain up to date on daycare standards and procedures.

Cultivate a warm and welcoming community for staff, parents, and children.

Participate in events at ACCC, both as support personnel and as a member of the ACCC community.

Interact with ACCC Board of Directors providing status reports regarding the operational health of the center.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

B.A. in Early Childhood Education or Human Development from an accredited university or equivalent experience.

Hold a valid California Child Development Site Supervisor Permit (within first 90 days)

Must have completed the Infant Toddler college course

6+ years of experience working with children ages six weeks to five years

3+ years of experience in a school administrative position

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Fingerprint clearance & up to date vaccinations (including COVID-19 vaccine and booster)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Hold a valid California Child Development Program Director Permit (Preferred)

Extensive knowledge of Emergent Curriculum

Enthusiastic, positive, and flexible team player

Ability to promote excellent parent/teacher relationships

Exceptional problem-solving skills with the ability to multi-task and able to prioritize work

Knowledgeable about Procare and the Procare Connect App

Extensive experience working with Google web tools and Microsoft Office Suite

Can type 50 words per minute with 85% accuracy

Can use Google Admin tools to maintain e-mail lists and groups

Understand the diversity and be able to work with people from a variety of cultural backgrounds.
