Our strength comes from how we respect, share and connect ourdiverse experiences, perspectives and ideas.You will have the opportunity to do socially useful work that has meaning – to Arup, to your career, to our members and to the clients and communities we serve.Arup is looking for a Rail Systems Engineering Lead to join our West geography and lead and grow the West Region Rail Systems Engineering team, gather and build Arup’s diverse strengths, inspire clients to engage Arup in their most challenging rail systems projects, and deliver results that strengthen Arup clients and the Arup offering.The opportunity· Actively train and mentor staff in the key skills sets, attributes, and approach required to successfully win and deliver rail systems work.· Develop and grow the technical, commercial, and soft skills of rail systems staff, selecting the right opportunities to fit staff capabilities and career progression.· Recruit and hire new staff to meet the demands of the business.· Support the Americas Rail Systems Engineering Lead by contributing to the overall leadership of the rail systems engineering and infrastructure practice in the West Region.· Resource planning for the Americas West rail systems engineering team.· Promote collaboration within rail systems, infrastructure, and other skills and business groups within Arup locally, regionally, and globally.· Actively participate in the Americas Rail Skills network.· Maintain and further develop long-term working relationships with key clients, including BART, Sound Transit, SFMTA, VTA, CAHSR, LA Metro, TriMet etc.· Be a creative driver within the rail systems marketplace, demonstrating Arup’s differentiated position by identifying and delivering innovative, full-lifecycle projects to benefit Arup clients and their customers.· Support rail pursuits.· Contribute to business development activities including positioning and authoring proposals.· Support development of bid strategies.The skills· Established client network in the West Geography Rail Systems market with public and private sector clients and potential teaming partners.· Experience with direct interfacing with clients as a prime consultant manager.· Undergraduate or master’s degree in engineering or related field.· Professional Engineer’s license in California is required.· 15 years of hands-on experience in rail systems or engineering designs, integration, and management of complex rail systems projects, including track, power, signals, and train control.· Detailed understanding of Rail Operations, Operations Simulation, and Modeling.· Experience in Systems Integration, Systems Assurance, and Verification and Validation (V&V).· LA Metro, Metrolink, Caltrain, BART, VTA, Sound Transit, SFMTA and/or other major transit agency experience and relationships are required, as building and leveraging relationships is a key element in catalyzing full-lifecycle projects.· Active in rail and transit professional organizations.Please note that all applicants must apply directly via the job portal.
