Food prep/Baker

Marlene’s Tea & Cakes specializes in elegant British-style afternoon tea. We pride ourselves in serving quality food that is fresh, made in-house, and beautifully presented.

Position

We are looking for a Food Preparer/Baker who is able to follow detailed instructions on making sandwiches, savories, desserts, and hot tea that meet the standard of quality at Marlene’s Tea & Cakes. This person must be artistic and creative in food presentation.

Responsibilities and Duties:

Prepare and make soup, sandwiches, and savories

Create a wide variety of baked goods and pastries, both savory and sweet

Artistically decorate desserts

Maintain health and safety regulations at all kitchen and dining areas

Follow directions and be able to handle feedback

Possess the ability to work well with a team and under pressure

Maintain up to date knowledge about pastry arts and ingredients

Help in other areas of operation:

- Set tables

- Make/prepare pots of teas

- Deliver prepared food tiers to customers

- Clear tables

- Wash dishes

- Clean kitchen

Requirements:

2 years of pastry or baking experience in a fast-paced environment

Strong knowledge of baking and pastries

Solid communication and teamwork skills

Hard working and fast paced

Able to work under pressure

Able to follow recipes and instructions accurately

Confident culinary technique and skills

Effective time management skills

Physically able to stand for long periods
