Blind Lady Ale House Part Time (Beer) Bartender
California, San diego, 92101 San diego USAIndie Beer Lovers!
Please read the entire ad before applying. We will need a LETTER from you explaining why you are right for this position and a RESUME from every person to consider. Without those things, we will not consider you for the position.
We are seeking someone who—
+ Knows indie beer exceedingly well, understands the styles and the breweries and can talk about it all eloquently
LETS REPEAT THAT: you must know indie beer real well.
+ But also understands the time and the place for a long conversation
+ Is tremendously positive and outgoing
+ Can talk about food as effortlessly as they can beer
+ And knowing about wine is key too!
+ Is not afraid or too good for cleaning, running food, and other bartending adjacent tasks.
+ Is a team player who can step into any role for the good of the Team
So to say this another way, we are seeking a bartender, a seasoned bartender, who knows a lot about beer and breweries but who can also take food orders efficiently and kindly and who can even run food some days. (The pay is the same! The tasks are not!)
It’s important for us to say this out loud if you are a human who thinks it’s OK to drink while you work, at all, please do not apply that isn’t our culture. Our culture is about community, about being communicative to our guests, explaining and educating kindly when they don’t understand, our culture is about tasty, quality, well-sourced homemade food, small independent breweries that make exceptional beer, supporting causes that we believe in even when they sometimes upset some customers, being a member of a team that is positive and supportive and helpful and kind.
This is a pretty specific niche job because we’re asking a lot of different things: Beer knowledge, bartending, food running and bussing—all in a very positive and kind manner.
If this is you, we would love to hear from you!
Let’s get to requirements—
You should be Cicerone certified at the very least
We’re looking for somebody who wants to make hospitality and in particular Beer hospitality their career and not a stop on their way to another career
We will train you to do every position in the front of house and this includes expo, which is technically in the back of house, but is often performed by our front of house team.
Other things that matter:
Someone well versed in food.
Familiar with wine styles
A really great, positive attitude
An eagerness to learn new things and work as part of a Team
A genuine understanding of the workings of a restaurant
An organized mind
Someone familiar and comfortable with the style of service that our restaurant group employs
Additionally we are looking for someone who is a people person, someone with an intuitive hospitality, someone curious and professional and joyful. A super communicator and all-around go getter.
Please email us your resume but you MUST INCLUDE a cover letter or thoughtful email explaining why you think you would be right for this position. If there is no cover letter, we won't bother even looking at the resume.
We are looking for someone who can work 3 (maybe 4) six or eight hour shifts a week currently though this could grow to full time. You must be able to work nights and weekends.
Let me say that again, you MUST be able to work weekends and evenings. You must be 21 years or older and you must have experience working with the public and in restaurants. We are seeking Team players, friendly and well spoken individuals who are outgoing and curious.
This is a 18-30 hour a week job with the potential for more shifts.
