San Diego Youth Services JOB ANNOUNCEMENT Marketing and Development Associate San Diego Youth Services seeks a Marketing and Development Associate in the Marketing and Development Department to be based at our Point Loma Office. This is a full-time & non-exempt position reporting to the Director of Philanthropy and Donor Engagement. San Diego Youth Services: Who We Are San Diego Youth Services has helped improve the lives of more than 780,000 homeless, runaway, and vulnerable youth since its beginning in 1970. We provide safe places to live and long-term solutions through shelters, foster homes, community centers, and housing to more than 28,000 youth every year at 100+ community and school locations. Through prevention, early intervention, and treatment, we also help youth before they need higher levels of care or become homeless. We aim to:

Meet the basic needs of youth. Hunger, poverty, and youth homelessness are on the rise for many youth and their families today. We help meet these basic needs for youth. What could be more vital than food and shelter? We provide safe places to live and long-term solutions through shelters, foster homes, community centers, and housing.

Create a positive connection. We help youth focus on positive life changes and healthy relationships as part of providing needed resources and services. San Diego Youth Services has long provided foster homes and adoption support services for families considering adopting a youth in the foster care system.

Help youth develop life skills. In addition to a range of safe and stable housing options, we offer support tohelp youth develop the independent living skills necessaryto become self-sufficient and keep off the streets.

Promote overall health and well-being. Early intervention and care for the whole child are critical. We provide a broad continuum of services to help youth overcome trauma and challenges that put them at risk, includingcase management, counseling, mental health treatment, and educational support and resources.

SDYS has a staff of approximately 215 employees and 80 volunteers working across San Diego County and an annual budget of approximately $22 million.

CONTEXT OF THE POSITION

Provide support to the Marketing and Development Department; assist in the implementation of the agency fundraising plan, marketing strategies, communications, social media, and special events. Organize and assist third-party fundraisers. Evening and weekend activities.

Essential functions include:

1. Marketing:

Draft announcements and articles about SDYS community events and activities for website, social media and newsletters.

Maintain consistent agency branding in event promotions, agency materials, and community messaging.

Maintain media, donor, community partner contacts, and mailing lists.

Act as an ambassador for San Diego Youth Services, representing the agency with enthusiasm and professionalism among community members, donors, and media.

Development:

Maintain and manage fundraising management software, including Donor Drive and Raiser’s Edge, enter gifts, donor information, and process donations, prepare acknowledgment letters, create weekly and monthly fundraising reports and other database reports as needed; Monthly reconciliation with the Accounting Department.

Maintain a donation wish list of items needed by centers/programs, identify opportunities for in-kind donations and write requests, oversee holiday giving drives, and coordinate distribution with programs.

Assist with fundraising initiatives, including peer-to-peer, online and in-kind.

Other duties as assigned.

Special Events

Special Events may require additional hours (in and out of the office) and some evenings and weekends.

Assist in event planning and fundraising, community and special events with emphasis on securing in-kind donations and auction items, registration, and event promotions.

Work directly with third-party fundraisers and community events providing marketing support, event promotions, and donor acknowledgment.

Agency:

Adhere to and uphold the rigorous standards of SDYS as mandated by its mission, purpose, guiding principles, and standards of quality, which includes the support for an integrated treatment approach for youth and quality trauma-informed youth programs.

Maintain confidentiality and privacy standards of service-partner protected health information and other applicable information and material in accordance with agency and center policies, and applicable regulations and laws including HIPAA.

Perform other related duties as assigned.

PREFERRED PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

2-3 years experience in administrative work with data entry, or non-profit experience with development and marketing preferred.

Experience in Donor Drive, Raiser’s Edge (or similar donor management software), Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Internet systems, including social media.

Strong organizational, verbal, communication, and public speaking skills.

Experience in answering and giving information over the phone and in person; able to multi-task and work with frequent interruptions, maintaining a professional demeanor at all times.

Team player with a positive attitude and enthusiasm. Knowledge of standard office equipment.

Salary Range : $23-$25/Hour
