Job Description: Apex Systems is seeking candidates for a contract-to-hire Product Manager role.

This resource will be required to sit onsite in San Diego 3 days per week and has the flexibility to sit remotely 2 days per week.

Product Manager serves as the voice of the customer, representing and reinforcing the Member's perspective throughout the product(s) lifecycle.

Responsibilities Will be responsible for translating the high-level strategic vision and business outcomes set forth by Executive Management for our products into a customer-centric product roadmap, and lead its execution. This role will also lead day to day product management of digital systems post go-live and initiate/prioritize projects and create the go-to-market plans.

Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Develop and execute product vision and roadmap in alignment with the Connected Member Experience, e.g. customer centric, personalization, etc. Continually iterate to ensure customer needs are met and that digital products remain relevant and competitive.
  • Act as an ambassador for the product internally and externally and support product related queries.
  • Understand and appreciate the importance of and promote systems life cycle methodologies, project management techniques, quality assurance and testing methodologies, and enterprise architecture principles.
  • When applicable, work with and manage vendors. This includes defining deliverables, driving vendor timelines that coincide with project goals and ongoing management of the vendor relationship.
  • Work closely with other Product Owners and partner with other business units including Operations, Member Service Center, Marketing, IT, and Project Delivery, and be responsible for working with those teams to accomplish business goals effectively and on schedule.
  • Ensure legal, risk, compliance, brand and accessibility are engrained in the Agile process and providing meaningful review/input.
  • Review, on a consistent basis, existing processes/systems to make recommendations on process improvements and achieve consensus and support from the diverse groups within Digital Commerce and the business to implement the defined processes.
  • Develop metrics and measures and provide analysis that will assist management in improving key processes and deliverables.
  • Provide assistance on vendor analysis, selection and review when necessary.
  • Seek and develop strong partnerships with organizational management IT staff, outside vendors and consultants to define, plan, develop, implement and support the Digital Portfolio of Products in alignment with current and new business objectives/opportunities. Participates in business decisions and anticipates issues.
  • Achieves consensus from diverse groups to implement new processes.
  • May provide direction and/or supervision and oversight of work of others in the department.
  • Define end-to-end customer experiences, drive requirements, build and manage roadmaps and backlogs, and prioritize the work.
  • Define, create, refine and deliver the Agile backlog via user stories. This includes prioritization of user stories for current and future sprints, providing guidance and clarification with any stories as required, and giving assistance with any impediment resolution.
  • Lead development of new features from concept to launch through the entire product life cycle - from research to ideation and prototyping to measuring and iterating.
  • Work with a cross-functional team of designers, developers and external partners in an Agile environment to lead, align, and maintain productive partnerships throughout the lifecycle and to enhance our digital delivery services.
  • Test and learn through customer research, production tests, and performance analysis to evolve the digital platform and define rollout strategies.
  • Lead research, testing, metrics analysis, data insights and experimentation to inform decisions.
  • Partner with key internal stakeholders and external vendor partners to translate business strategies into features that delight our customers.
  • Understand member pain points, assist in defining solutions and bring them to life.
  • Collaborate with the broader internal teams to ensure that system designs supports a seamless and consistent digital experience across multiple products in alignment with defined UX standards and member personas.
  • Ensure communication channels among all parties on any particular project are in place and working effectively at all times to ensure all are informed of current project status and any potential issues as they arise.
  • Triages production issues with business and technology partners to ensure swift and satisfactory resolution with minimal impact to users and the business.
  • Proactively manage expectations through clear and frequent communication.
  • Must have the ability to influence stakeholders with diverse points of view and maintain grounded and productive discussions.
Qualifications
  • Strong leadership, decision making and analytical skills.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Math, Human-Center Design or equivalent field preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in digital product management and working knowledge of websites, UI/UX, development, and technology architecture.
  • At least 3 years managing consumer-facing digital applications (websites, apps and mobile web)
  • Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.
  • Strong understanding and working experience utilizing design-thinking best practices- empathy, requirements definition, ideation, prototyping, and testing to deliver digital products and experiences.
  • Deep insights into digital journeys, and digital personalization leveraged by the best digital competitors and world class digital companies.
  • Technically savvy with experience working with designers and developers to craft usable experiences.
  • Proven track record working within an Agile Framework.
  • Superior organizational skills, strong interpersonal skills and the ability to understand and manage multiple streams within one project and multiple products concurrently.
  • Exceptional communication skills (verbal, written, and presentation); experienced and comfortable working with and presenting to colleagues at various levels, from co-workers to executive management. Strong ability to collaborate and engage with various working styles and personalities.
  • Excellent knowledge of project management methodologies; able to manage large, complex projects.
  • Must have Scrum and/or Product Owner Certification.
  • Financial services experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience using data analytic tools such as Google Analytics, Omniture/SiteCatalyst.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience with tools are utilized for such as Jira, Confluence, Basecamp, Slack, Workfront.
