Program Support Specialist

Classification: Non-Exempt/Hourly

Reports To: Associate Director of Programs

Lead: Volunteer Coordinator

Location: Roseville, CA

SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE:

The Program Support Specialist is responsible for managing the setup and functionality of program workspaces and equipment, maintaining stock and supplies for production shifts, and ensuring volunteer and staff safety. The PSS provides support and assistance to the Programs team and their lead is the Volunteer Coordinator.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Independently manage the setup, stocking/restocking, and clean-up of program work areas according to daily shift schedule, ensuring spaces are prepared for volunteer groups in timely manner.

Ensure Programs warehouse areas are clean and sanitary, conduct cleaning activities according to schedule and SOPs, and ensure cleaning records are accurate, complete and current.

Orient, train and supervise volunteers and prepares them to perform their duties in accordance with Placer Food Bank’s policies and procedures for food safety and occupational safety

Manage repack activities in such a manner so as not to create a risk to food safety, whether through product contamination, cross contact, inaccurate labeling or temperature deviations. Ensure all volunteers are wearing the proper PPE for the repack activity being conducted and adhering to all GMPs for food safety.

Ensure that all inventory processed by a repack group is appropriately accounted for using SOP’s.

Make sure that accountability is maintained during the repack processes and that variances are identified and rectified in a timely manner.

Maintain the integrity and organization of Program’s product inventory, rotating product and stocking/restocking as directed by VC and SOPs.

Notify staff of product running low with appropriate time to reorder before running out.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Associates or Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Valid California driver’s license, clean DMV record, and proof of automobile insurance.

2+ years’ experience working in warehouse environment preferred.

Awareness of diverse lived experiences and the desire to work with people of different nationalities, ethnic origins, and socioeconomic levels is essential.

Fluent in English, ability to speak Spanish is a plus.

Honesty, integrity, and commitment to addressing root causes of food insecurity in California.

Must have clear understanding of and ability to articulate the mission of PFB.

Self-starter who successfully manages multiple priorities and works independently in timely and organized manner.

Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite

Time management and task completion skills

Effective communicator, who asks questions and offers and welcomes feedback to foster team and individual growth.

Forklift certified/forklift experience strongly preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.

The employee frequently is required to sit, stand, walk, use hands and fingers, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms. This position requires the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies, up to 30 pounds. At times, this position will require working in a non-air-conditioned warehouse environment. This position does require the ability to perform under stressful conditions and high-volume demands.
