Full-time

We are doing some incredible things here at Pinnacle. We’re all about challenging convention and doing the hard work it takes to create mind-blowing digital and physical experiences, events, exhibits and environments for some of the world’s top brands. Our Rules of Engagement—being gracious, invested and creative—reward imagination and encourage disruptive thinking in the pursuit of flawless execution for our clients.

We are based in Portland, Oregon with facilities in both Northern and Southern California, Chicago, Illinois; Raleigh, North Carolina and now in Hartford, Connecticut. We are recruiting for a Warehouse Manager in our Irvine, California facility. The Warehouse Manager runs the show in our large Irvine warehouse.

Reporting to the Production Manager, the Warehouse Manager is responsible for playing Tetris with a large warehouse full of crates, skids and unusual event properties. While you won’t find RFID or a super sophisticated inventory management system, you will be very hands on in the storing, moving, crating and shipping around some really cool properties.

We’d guess that 15-20% of your day is being a logistics master—you gotta know trucking. You’re cubing out crates, getting transportation quotes, scheduling air shipments. Another 30% or so is running the crew of 6-8 folks who are pulling and prepping existing properties, packing up new inventory or handling inbound inspections. Add in another 30% in meetings, planning, talking and the remaining time is putting out fires? Sound fun? It sure can be.

The ideal candidate has a lot of years under their belt dealing with all the stuff listed above—trucking, logistics, people management, getting stuff done.

More formally, some nuts and bolts about the job:

Scheduling and supervise warehouse staff, maintain a pro-active labor plan (building a better team for tomorrow)

Run a tight warehouse! Keep it clean, organized and safe

Overall management of their local warehousing and inventory control functions and teams—includes hiring, coaching, development, corrective action, scheduling, pull and preps, receive in inventories. Lead the warehouse and inventory teams on a daily, hourly basis, redirect and reprioritize as needed

Oversee department administration, replenishment of materials, authorization of expenses, timesheets, facility wide purchasing

Pro-active communication and leadership for individual project teams (AD, AM, PM, designer, detailer)

Supervise loading of shipments

Working with account teams and warehouse staff, consolidates and schedules shipments

Partner with the Shop Foreman to provide an organized and clean warehouse, proactively work together to juggle multiple projects and teams

Collaborate with Shop Foreman and Project Management for production planning purposes

Provide a flexible warehousing and storage plan including temporary solutions when needed

High level oversight and sometimes stepping in to do the following:

o Investigating damages or shortages in consignments or overcharges for freight or insurance

o Compiling data for client inventory records

o Documenting returned goods from shows and materials outbound for shows

o Work with accounting regarding storage billing

We are an energetic and creative bunch and have high expectations for all of our employees. In addition to being fun to work with, we would like to hire someone with the following experience, skills, and attributes:

5 years of recent inventory control or warehousing experience

3 years of recent experience as Supervisor or Manager

Experience having full responsibility for a warehouse or facility

Proven ability to partner with internal teams and lead teams with diverse skill sets

Must have clean driving record and current driver’s license

Has to be an awesome, empathetic, flexible communicator

Extensive knowledge of exhibit industry practices and procedures—experience as the being known as the best builder is a plus. Safe operation of hand and power and standard fabrication tools and equipment, knowledge and understanding of building and electrical requirements

Ability to effectively manage/coordinate simultaneous projects and successfully prioritize multiple tasks using good judgment

Strong organizational skills

Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook

Ability to work long hours as needed
