Quantitative Research Analyst

Quantitative Research Analyst (Pacific Investment Management Company LLC (PIMCO) – Newport Beach, CA); Multiple positions available. Design, develop and improve the suite of client analytics models and applications. Collaborate with core technology at PIMCO to ensure the client analytics applications are scalable, cloud-enabled and client facing within PIMCO’s digital ecosystem. Support innovative research in asset allocation, portfolio optimization, trading signals, asset returns and valuation. Create insights to improve the quant models that the team produces, datasets it ingests, and applications it delivers. Conduct data preparation, analysis, and a variety of data mining techniques using SQL, Python, Jupyter, Beacon, and Snowflake to derive meaningful insights from data. Code analytical models for data analysis, predictive analytics, machine learning and clustering, Natural Language Processing techniques, Large Language Modeling using OpenAI, Python and SQL. Troubleshoot and assess the impact of erroneous data on model results and develop solutions to correct the root cause. Engage in analysis and visualization of data using statistical techniques to evaluate effectiveness of sales and marketing campaigns, and communicate findings for CRM, reporting, and business analytics. Evaluate analytics vendors, including their products and services. Position based in Newport Beach, CA; telecommuting permitted up to twice per week.

Requires a Master’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Data Science, Computer Engineering, or a related quantitative field. Education, training, or experience must include: Python, Java, SQL, or Matlab; Object-Oriented Programming; large data sets, both structured and unstructured; Machine Learning techniques; Natural Language Processing; and, portfolio theory, option pricing, and asset pricing. Experience may be gained concurrently. Position based in Newport Beach, CA; telecommuting permitted up to twice per week.
