Transportation Coordinator
California, Monterey bay, 93940 Monterey bay USAThe primary responsibility of the Transportation Coordinator is to accurately manage ride information and rides. His/her responsibilities include scheduling telephoned rides from customers, assigning rides to drivers and communicating with them during their shifts. He/she is responsible for developing and maintaining a good working relationship and rapport with member-riders, volunteer and paid drivers, other office staff and Board Members.
II. JOB RELATIONSHIP
Reports To: Transportation Supervisor and Operations Manager of ITN®MontereyCounty.
III. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Process telephoned requests for rides. Processing includes writing down and or entering all information in the appropriate place, entering ride data for the correct day and time, and producing and distributing documents to the drivers.
2. Assure that all data is entered on a timely basis. He/she assures that volunteer rides and volunteer information is current on a daily basis. All volunteer rides are to be scheduled first. Transportation Coordinator emails both Volunteer and paid Drivers the day before to provide their ride schedules, confirming driver approval.
3. Maintain communication with drivers to monitor their location and availability. He/she will assign paid drivers when volunteers cannot be scheduled for rides, and cover nightly “on-call” duties which include taking the company laptop and cell phone home. Answering calls and monitoring ride changes, communicating with drivers and possibly dispatching the ride to other drivers (if necessary).
4. Accept and complete other tasks assigned by management, including Executive Director or Board Chairman.
5. Manage the driver schedules during the week to assure proper hours according to labor laws and seniority.
6. Must be Bilingual (Written & Oral) Engish and Spanish
7. Must be willing to work on-call, nights/weekends. Remote work available once fully trained and past probation.
8. Ideal canidate will reside in rural region of the county, and support our two rural projects with community outreach and project promotion presentations.
9. The Transportation Coordinator ensures that the work area and work practices focus on safety, including reporting all work related accidents via an incident report immediately and any possible work related safety concerns to management or Executive Director.
