Job Description:
The Paralegal/Legal Assistant will play a crucial role in supporting our bankruptcy practice by assisting attorneys with case management, document preparation, and client communication. The ideal candidate must have a strong understanding of bankruptcy law and possess proficiency in bankruptcy software applications such as Best Case. This position requires excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a remote setting.
Responsibilities:
- Assist attorneys with case management tasks, including drafting legal documents, correspondence, and court filings.
- Conduct legal research and analysis related to bankruptcy cases, statutes, and regulations.
- Manage and organize case files, ensuring accuracy and completeness of documentation.
- Communicate with clients, creditors, and court personnel to gather information and coordinate case activities.
- Utilize bankruptcy software programs such as Best Case to prepare and file bankruptcy petitions, schedules, and other court documents.
- Stay updated on changes in bankruptcy laws, procedures, and software updates.
- Provide administrative support to attorneys, including scheduling appointments, maintaining calendars, and managing correspondence.
- Maintain confidentiality of client information and adhere to ethical standards of the legal profession.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience working as a paralegal or legal assistant in bankruptcy law.
- Proficiency in bankruptcy software applications, particularly Best Case.
- Strong computer skills and ability to work efficiently in a remote environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Detail-oriented with exceptional organizational abilities.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple deadlines effectively.
- Self-motivated with a strong work ethic and commitment to excellence.
