Who We Are:
We are a new intimate handroll and izakaya bar concept in Koreatown, working with renowned chef Akira Back. The menu will feature specialty handrolls, izakaya, desserts, and alcoholic beverages.
About the Position:
Part time and full time position pays minimum wage, PLUS customer tips/gratuities. Earn up to $20-$25 per hour, although this is an estimated pay and may vary.
The Sushi Cook understands that customer satisfaction always takes top priority and that an efficient restaurant operation with a properly trained and motivated supporting staff makes that possible. The Sushi Cook will prepare and support the kitchen team with clear communication and a team player attitude.
Core Duties:
- Execute precise preparation and cooking of various Japanese dishes according to the restaurant's high standards and recipes.
- Participate in FOH daily lineups and staff training of the menu with daily tasting.
- Efficiently manage the sushi station, ensuring that all ingredients are prepped, organized, and ready for service.
- Expertly cutting, slicing, and filleting different types of fish.
- To properly store seafood by always keeping it on ice and changing containers nightly.
- Work closely with the kitchen team, including the Head Chef, Sushi Chefs and other cooks, to ensure smooth service flow
- Adhere to all food safety and sanitation guidelines, ensuring a clean and safe kitchen environment. Regularly clean and maintain cooking equipment and workspaces.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Cook or Sushi Chef Japanese or Asian restaurant.
- In-depth knowledge of Japanese cooking techniques, ingredients, and kitchen equipment.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
- Culinary degree or relevant certification preferred but not required.
- Commitment to high standards of food quality, presentation, and kitchen cleanliness.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform tasks requiring repetitive motion.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
Experience:
Restaurant experience: 1-2 years minimum
