We would be happy to hear from you.The GI Motility Program at Cedars-Sinai uses advanced technology and comprehensive testing to pinpoint the cause of disruptions to patients' digestive systems. Motility is the synchronized, wave-like movement of the muscles pushing food through your digestive system. Motility disorders, or dysmotility, is when the muscles do not function as they should, causing a range of health problems. Motility disorders can affect any part of the GI tract, including the esophagus, stomach, small bowel, large bowel and sphincter. Motility disorders are commonly associated with a change in the balance of the gut microbiome such as small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO). Our team works with patients to develop a personalized treatment plan that targets the source of the problem.Summary of Essential Duties:Provides and documents direct and indirect patient care services that ensure the safety, comfort, personal hygiene, and protection of patients. Provides care and patient education on disease prevention and restorative measures.Administration of medications and therapeutic agents necessary to implement the treatment, disease prevention, or rehabilitative plan of care.Performs skin tests, immunizations, phlebotomy, central line access, and care if applicable, and the initiation of peripheral venous access.Observes signs and symptoms of illness, reactions to medications/treatments, general behavior, and/or general physical condition. Assesses signs, symptoms, reactions, behaviors, or general appearance to determine normal versus abnormal characteristics.Implements appropriate reporting, referrals, and care in accordance with standardized procedures. Initiates emergency procedures when indicated.Provides care to special patient populations and patients with diverse cultural backgrounds. Identifies patient’s readiness for learning and ability to understand directions/instructions and give consent.Identifies and assesses patient safety concerns with respect to age and developmental considerations. Intervenes to provide a safe environment and evaluates the effectiveness of intervention for patients.QualificationsQualifications:Education:Graduate of an accredited nursing program requiredBSN preferredLicense/Certifications:Current, unrestricted California RN license requiredBLS from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross requiredExperience:A minimum of 1 years of acute care nursing experience requiredExperience in a procedural setting preferredExperience with GI patients is beneficialCedars-Sinai is an EEO employer.
