Position: Oracle/ MySQL Database AdministratorLocation: Los Angeles, CA (Onsite)Job Type: Fulltime Job Description:Client is looking for a DBA who will contribute to the overall engineering, design, build and production support of all existing and new Oracle/MySQL databases primarily. As a DBA, the successful candidate will need to work closely with our internal Clients and team members to develop consensus and find solutions to problems facing their business challenges. The DBA will work with all of the IT development teams to assist in the implementation, management, development and monitoring of the databases that supports the company's IT data integrations initiatives.Duties And Responsibilities:- Ensuring availability and performance of all company databases.
- ensuring that the proper hardware resources are allocated to the databases, and to ensure high resilience and performance tuning.
- Proactively monitoring the database systems to ensure secure services with minimum downtime.
- Providing trend analysis to management team to enable them to make informed decisions regarding resource management.
- Troubleshooting and problem-solving Oracle/MySQL development issues.
- Assisting developers to optimize, tune and enhance database queries
- Responsible for implementation and release of database changes according to agreed timescales and costs.
- Proposing and implementing database architectural changes to make database infrastructure highly scalable and optimized
- We operate a 24x7 environment. On-call / off-hours deployments and support will be required.
- Taking on technical leadership responsibilities of database projects across various teams in the organization
- Mentoring developers on data modeling best practices and enabling them to come up with an optimized data model
- 2 to 5 years of working experience as either an Oracle or MySQL DBA
- Familiar with basic Linux systems administration
- Self-sufficiency and initiative working on Database projects
- Practical experience in monitoring and tuning a database to provide a high availability service
- Knowledge of Multi-Instance implementations and methodologies.
- Experience with Replication, Log Shipping, Change Data Capture and Database Mirroring
- Good communication skills
- Able to do an in-office set up required.
