WHAT YOU'LL DO BCG's Knowledge Team (KT) is a key pillar across BCG's roughly twenty global Industry and Functional Practice businesses. KT is a billable, expertise-based, professional services organization. KT plays diverse roles ranging from being staffed in client case teams alongside consulting and other professional services staff to developing and managing IP specific to functional topic or industry sector-based businesses. BCG's KT organization has embarked on an Agile transformation to change the way Knowledge Teams work and contribute to the firm's priorities. BCG's KT consists of approximately 80 teams that are unique in their own ways, have different geographic, capability, and leadership footprints, take on different forms of work, and interact with a multitude of internal stakeholders. As part of the KT of the Future (KTOF) transformation program, BCG is investing to scale these new Agile ways of working across all these teams. We embarked in 2021 in focused pilots; the successful candidate will have the exciting opportunity to shape how we continue to design and scale this Agile program across the entire global KT organization. We are looking for people who are passionate about Agile ways of working and want to spread Scrum framework across our Knowledge teams and business processes. However, we also expect that all our team members balance their passion with a pragmatic and value-driven approach to driving change in complex, matrixed organizations filled with sophisticated and expert talent. The Scrum Master is a change agent who can work collaboratively and intelligently with people and teams to help them improve and deliver their best work. You will work directly in a Squad to advise and oversee performance against Agile values, practices, and ceremonies. This is a temporary 6-month role. Working with the Product Owner, you will support the work of the Squad by maintaining the backlog and facilitating Agile ceremonies for example stand ups, sprint planning and retrospectives. You will monitor the Squad's team performance and help identify continuous improvement opportunities to help the team work better and smarter. Among your responsibilities, you will:

  • Design and tailor Agile ways of working
    • Define the practices, processes, and tools to support new ways of working
    • Identify patterns and parameters across teams that warrant adjustments to ways of working
    • Contribute to refining the continuing design of the Agile program for KT
  • Work with squads to embed and reinforce Agile practices and behaviors
    • Provide training and resources to equip Squad members with management practices to enhance their Agile maturity
    • Facilitate sprint planning, stand ups, retrospectives and other Agile ceremonies
    • Own maturity assessments and results to develop coaching plans
    • Enable and advise on the continuous improvement of squad operation
  • Review and manage backlog items to ensure the latest work status is captured and updated as appropriate
    • Facilitate and support the development of Squad OKRs with the senior topic leaders
    • Support Product Owner manage and prioritize work through the backlog and manage other scrum artifacts
    • Ensure work is appropriately balanced across team members and that all work is captured within the backlog
  • Identify continuous improvement opportunities and best practices to progress the work of the squad
    • Support the continuous improvement and development of best practices in interaction model between the squads, leadership and other stakeholders
    • Team with our Change & Communications and Learning & Development Managers among others
    • Improve and refine our Agile Playbook and bringing improvements back to the squads

YOU BRING (EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS)
  • 4-6 years' relevant Agile experience (e.g. as Scrum Master or Agile Coach/ Mentor) in 1 or more organizations
  • Agile Certifications, preferably Scrum.org (PSM I + PSM II) or Scrum Alliance (Certified Scrum Master)
  • Exceptional communications and stakeholder management skills
  • Experience working in collaboration with multiple functional areas
  • Deep understanding of agile ways of working, principles and culture
  • Deep understanding of Agile frameworks, especially Scrum and Kanban
  • Extensive experience with appropriate tools such as JIRA / Trello
  • Practical knowledge of various coaching tools in team management
  • Experience in consulting is a plus
YOU'LL WORK WITH Our business management and operations team members work to ensure that BCG is running smoothly, efficiently, and productively. We are made up of executive and administrative (or case team) assistants, visual service artists, receptionists, facilities staff, and the team leaders and office coordinators who manage these operations and business management jobs.
