12-Step Peer Specialist

SHARE! the Self-Help And Recovery Exchange is a non-profit organization dedicated to self-help support groups of all kinds. We have three locations: Culver City, Downtown Los Angeles and Monterey Park.

SHARE! is seeking people to work in recovery using your lived experience and participation in 12-Step and other self-help support groups for any issue to carry the message. See our website www.shareselfhelp.org for more information on all our programs.

Working at SHARE! offers many opportunities to build community, inspire personal growth and change and connect people with self-help support groups, housing, jobs and volunteer opportunities. Self-help support groups of every kind, including 12-Step groups, DBSA, Recovery International and many others are at the heart of SHARE!’s mission.

Responsibilities:

-Encourage people to attend self-help support groups

-Manage meetings and events held at the center or on zoom

- Identify, assemble and integrate volunteers of all levels and abilities.

- Initiate outreach to start new self-help support groups

- Provide crisis management as needed

- Assist with special events

- Performs other work or special projects as required or assigned.

Qualifications:

- Minimum one year of sobriety and/or abstinence if applicable, 2-5 years preferred

- Minimum one year of current personal experience attending self-help groups, 2-5 years preferred

- Experience working with volunteers a plus

- Self-starter, able to take a project and run with it.

- Bilingual in any language a plus.

- Honesty, willingness, open-mindedness, desire to grow.
