Job Summary

The Wood Framer is responsible for constructing and assembling the framework of buildings, ensuring the structures are safe, stable, and built according to specifications. This role requires precision, attention to detail, and a thorough understanding of construction practices.

Key Responsibilities

Blueprint Interpretation: Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to understand the requirements and plan the construction process.

Structural Framing: Measure, cut, and assemble wood to construct the framework of buildings, including walls, floors, and roofs.

Material Handling: Select and order appropriate materials, such as lumber and plywood, ensuring they meet quality standards.

Tool Usage: Utilize hand and power tools such as saws, hammers, nail guns, and drills efficiently and safely.

Building Layout: Mark and measure dimensions on materials according to blueprints and building codes.

Installation: Install structures such as windows, doors, and staircases as part of the framing process.

Quality Assurance: Inspect completed work to ensure it aligns with building codes, specifications, and safety standards.

Team Collaboration: Work closely with other construction professionals, including electricians, plumbers, and project managers, to coordinate tasks and ensure timely project completion.

Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety guidelines and regulations to maintain a safe work environment.

Qualifications

Education: High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training in carpentry is a plus.

Experience: Proven experience as a framer or in a similar role in construction.

Skills:

◦ Proficiency in reading blueprints and technical drawings.

◦ Strong mathematical and measurement skills.

◦ Ability to use carpentry tools and equipment effectively.

◦ Physical stamina and strength to perform manual labor and lift heavy materials.

◦ Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.

Certifications: OSHA certification or other relevant safety training is advantageous.

Physical Requirements

Ability to stand, walk, and work on feet for extended periods.

Capable of lifting and carrying heavy materials and equipment.

Comfortable working at heights and in various weather conditions.

Work Environment

The position typically involves working outdoors on construction sites.

May require working in noisy and dusty environments.

Compensation

$18-$25 hourly based on experience and qualifications.
