Job Summary

The DA front office float performs clinical and administrative tasks that support practice operations.

Summary of Essential Job Functions:

Prepare treatment rooms, instruments and tray setups for dental procedures.

Sterilize and disinfect instruments and equipment.

Assist the dentist during examinations and treatment procedures.

Conduct work in compliance with office policies and procedures, safety and OSHA guidelines.

Record medical and dental histories and vital signs of patient in the patient’s chart.

Greet patients upon arrival and assist in answering incoming phone calls.

Conduct patient health screening.

Perform diagnostic quality dental radiographic procedures. (Once trained and certified)

Assist in supporting patient retention by following established scheduling guidelines and protocols.

Ensure patients have updated all necessary paperwork prior to treatment.

Assist with on-call and reactivation patient lists to ensure openings in the practice schedule are filled.

Assist with collecting payments from patients at the time of treatment and scheduling future patient appointments.

Ensure that patient records are accurate and complete, and that patient confidentiality is strictly maintained.

Monitor and organize outgoing/incoming patient referrals and specialist updates.

Dispatch lab work appropriately and check in lab cases as they arrive.

Maintain an appropriate office environment through cooperation and teamwork.

Maintain regular, predictable attendance.

Assist with other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

Current Basic life support (CPR) Certification.

Radiation Safety Certificate (X-ray license).

Knowledge of general administrative and clerical procedures specific to a dental office environment.

Good communication skills in English and Spanish

Ability to perform detailed work according to established formats and protocols.

Proof of course completion in the California Dental Practice Act (CDPA) and Infection Control for Dental Assistants (8-hour) within 12 months of employment.

Optional Requirements:

At least one years of experience in a dental clinical setting preferred.

Working knowledge in (Open Dental, Paterson) dental software.
