Part Time Farm Hand

>1/2 acre market garden in Hydesville hiring 2 days a week, May- September/ October.

Starting hourly based on experience (16+/hr)

This is a great position for someone who lives in Fortuna, Hydesville, and surrounding areas. A bit much of a commute from Arcata/ Eureka.

Job Duties Include:

- Harvesting and washing vegetables

- Spreading amendments (minerals, manure, up to 50# at a time)

- Broadforking, and using long handled tools (hula-hoe) to weed and shape beds

- Sowing seeds

- Getting out and putting away tools, supplies, materials

- removing old crops and "flipping beds" for the next crop

Hours are somewhat flexible and could be afternoons only for the right person looking for an after school into summer job. Experience not required but a general interest in gardening/ vegetables/ attention to detail is helpful.
