Job Summary:
At Yellowstone National Park Lodges, we are committed to minimizing our environmental impact by reducing the amount of waste we generate and recycling the waste that cannot be reduced. We view our waste diversion efforts as the foundation of the sustainability program in Yellowstone because everyone who enters the park to Work, Live, or Explore can participate. Through the combined efforts of employees and guests, Yellowstone National Park Lodges already recycles nearly half of the waste generated in our hotels, restaurants, and tours. But 50% is just the start – our goal is a 5% reduction in waste to landfills every year. As a member of Yellowstone's Sustainability Team, you will play a key role in helping us achieve this goal, as well as our mission to provide Legendary Hospitality with a Softer Footprint.
The Details:
Position Type: Seasonal
Season Dates: April 2024 - October 2024
Pay: $17.25-$18.00/hr depending on position
Schedule: Typical schedule is 40 hours, 5 days/per week (may include weekends, evenings, and holidays)

Responsibilities:
Lead Recycler
$18.00/Hour
Responsible for providing training and supervision to Location Recycling Technician(s)
Efficient collection of all recyclable materials
Sorting recyclable materials from unrecyclable materials
Safe operation of all baling and compacting equipment
Work with Sustainability Department to assess waste management opportunities, improve effectiveness of diversion program, and implement program changes
Recycler
$17.25/Hour
Responsible for the efficient collection and sorting of recycling materials from unrecyclable materials
Processing all location cardboard using baling equipment
Responsible for the safe operation, cleanliness and maintaining the location recycling vehicle
Work with Sustainability Department to assess waste management opportunities, improve effectiveness of diversion program, and implement program changes
Qualifications:
Must have the ability to work with minimum supervision, and complete tasks in a safe, timely, and professional manner
Must be at least 21 years of age, possess a valid U.S. driver’s license with a safe driving record and ability to operate a 1-ton vehicle
A driver practice testing will be required once on location
Must have prior knowledge or interest in learning waste management and overall park-wide environmental programs and serve as a resource for fellow employees and park visitors
Must have knowledge of or interest in learning recyclable materials, processing methods, and collection systems
Respiratory protection will be worn when required (OSHA standards require a clean-shaven face)
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to lift, push or pull bins with weights of 50-100 pounds on a daily basis
Must be able to stand and bend throughout an 8-hour shift
Must pass a Department of Transportation (DOT) physical exam provided by Xanterra’s partner clinic.
