SummaryLeads the Short-Term Power Scheduling and Trading division of Supply & Trading. Oversees all day-ahead and balance-of-month trading and scheduling of electricity and SRP’s participation in an organized day-ahead market. This is a critical role in managing SRP’s retail fuel and purchased power expenses and wholesale net revenue targets, in excess of $1B.What You'll Do Oversees critical daily operations including retail load forecasting, hourly price forecasting, development of the economic dispatch plan for generation resources and contractual purchases and sales, short-term purchases and sales of energy/capacity, strategic bidding of SRP resources into the market, coordination of unit outages, and management of reserves to meet system reliability requirements. Manages the development and execution of day-ahead and balance-of-month trading strategies necessary to minimize the cost to serve SRP's retail electricity customers and seek opportunities to maximize the value of excess generation assets in the wholesale market while maintaining position limits within established financial risk tolerances and ensuring reliable supply. Continuously review short-term trading positions to ensure that trading limits are not exceeded. Oversees the team’s development of daily trading analytics and strategies encompassing price forecasting, contract management, energy storage and renewable resource operations, and reserve management. Manages the development of trading strategies necessary to support structured transactions for long-term wholesale power customers. Represent the needs of Supply & Trading in cross-departmental efforts associated with resource planning decisions, Power Purchase Agreements, system improvements, and operations of the generation portfolio. Represent SRP in market design development and engagement. Ensures the communication of the eight-day trading outlook in a corporate situational awareness briefing to senior leadership. Authorized to approve and execute individual physical electricity transactions valued up to $5 million per transaction and transmission agreements valued up to $5 million per transaction.What It Takes To Succeed Ability to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment that requires frequent, quick decision-making. Strong interpersonal and communication skills to facilitate extensive contact with customers, brokers, other counter parties, as well as internal SRP organizations including Transmission and Generation Operations, Operational Readiness, Supply & Trading Support, Business System Applications, and executive leadership. Ability to properly use confidential and proprietary information. Must pass an SRP Background Check.ExperienceMinimum of 8 years cumulative and progressive professional experience.Prior power or gas trading and scheduling experience preferred.EducationCompletion of a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution that prepares the employee for the assignment.Hybrid WorkplaceSRP currently offers a hybrid workplace, which allows employees whose jobs can be performed remotely, and who have sufficient technical capability, to telework up to three days per week.
