Pick-up Broom/Sweeper Operator

Fann Contracting, Inc - Northern Arizona’s leading heavy-civil and heavy-highway contractor - is now hiring for an experienced, full-time, permanent Pick-up Broom Operator. Our 63-year family owned company specializes in mass excavation, rock handling, underground utilities, private and public infrastructure, asphalt paving, aggregate crushing, asphalt hot plant production, trucking operations and much more.This versatile position is a combination of street sweeper/pickup broom operator, asphalt milling/paving crew member and CDL Driver. The Sweeper/Broom Operator also performs a variety of physical tasks to include operating heavy equipment and other machinery. Job duties may also entail using power tools and/or hand tools for making road-side repairs to equipment or applying asphalt products.Although a CDL is not always necessary for this position, we prefer that candidates hold a valid and current Class A CDL driver's license with tank endorsement (please no license suspensions or DUI within the previous 4 years). During periods when there are no sweeping duties, candidates will move to other assignments/functions. Therefore, they should have construction hauling experience with Belly Dumps, 10 and 12-wheel end dumps and water trucks. If the individual does not have experience with those vehicles, we will train the right candidate as long as they have or can acquire a Class A CDL. Travel is typical within Arizona and some labor/broom maintenance work will be required. Operates pick-up sweeper and performs routine and/or unexpected maintenance procedures on our brooms and other equipment.

Candidates must be safety minded and have the ability to pass DOT pre-employment and random drug screening.

Preferably, candidates will have a valid Arizona Class A CDL license with tank endorsement.

Must have an acceptable driving record for the previous 40 months.

Mechanical repair experience or ability to be trained to repair pick-up sweepers.

Experience with paper and electronic CDL logs, performing thorough pre and post-trip vehicle inspections per DOT standards.

Have experience with or willing to learn other equipment operation skills such as water truck, dump truck or other road construction equipment (OJT and free training classes are provided).

Must be able to travel within Arizona for work while remaining reliable, dependable and punctual.

Ability to work nights, weekends and overtime as needed.

Must work safely, quickly and productively to meet production goals as directed by the Foreman or Superintendent.

Physical Requirements:

Exposure to outside weather, including frequent hot and cold conditions, as well as exposure to fumes, vibrations, and airborne particles.

Requires the employee to sit, climb, bend, kneel, squat, stand, lift and move up to 50 pounds.

The work environment involves exposure to physical risks such as moving mechanical parts.
