This position is for TI-New Construction work

Primary Duties: Installer will install heating, ventilation, ductwork and air conditioning systems in commercial settings. Installations will be up to code and Clear Air standards. Reports to assigned job site on time and ready to work. Supervise the work of other installers maintaining high quality and timely job performance.

Qualifications:

Valid driver’s license and clean MVR.

Must be able to pass a background check.

Must be drug-free and able to pass new hire and random drug screenings.

Demonstrate willingness to invest in and maintain tools used in the installation of HVAC equipment.

Demonstrate willingness to invest time in training to advance position.

Demonstrate commitment to developing customer service and communication skills.

Ability to follow written and verbal directions as given

Ability to follow Safety Guidelines:

1. Safely work with heights and in tight working conditions from extension and step ladders.

2. Ability to operate power and hand tools safely.

3. Ability to use safe lifting procedures.

4. Ability to use full range of body motion: climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, lifting, bending and twisting.

5. Ability to safely navigate attic spaces without stepping, damaging or falling through ceiling.

6. Ability to understand safety guidelines of sheet metal fabricating equipment and machines.

7. Ability to safely install gas lines & fittings.

8. Ability to safely and responsibly install refrigerant lines.

Must have all Level 1 & 2 qualifications in addition to the following:

1. Level 3 tools.

2. Valid EPA Certification for Level 1 & Level 2

3. Proficient in installing round and rectangular duct

4. Able to measure ductwork and install all equipment accessories

5. Basis understanding of more complex sheet metal fittings

6. Maintain builder and sub-contractors’ relations

7. Ability to complete all necessary paperwork

8. Can complete production homes unsupervised and on budget Can complete simple low voltage connections on furnaces, air handlers and air conditioners Must be able to communicate well with supervisors, builders and other trades

9. Able to complete and follow through on change orders

10. Braze line sets

11. Must possess universal refrigeration license

12. Test line sets

13. Able to supervise others

Regular Duties:

Operate company vehicle daily

Purchase, replace and maintain required tools as listed for HVAC Installer level 3

Arrive at jobsite at scheduled time and location as dispatched

Follow instructions from Supervisor and Lead Installer and carry out in timely manner

Supervise and be responsible for other installers

Report problems with company tools or vehicle promptly

Maintain professional appearance and attitude at all times

Unload truck supplies and equipment

Demonstrate proficiency in customer service, written/verbal communication and team-work skills with Contractor, Homeowner, Representatives, Supervisors, Co-Workers and other Sub-Contractors on job sites.

Complete jobs within the labor budget

Run a job without supervision

Attend and participate in employee meetings, and 12 hours of job-related training annually.

Train Level 2 Installers (includes planned training schedule)

Prepare for NATE core test

Other Duties as Assigned

Skill Advancement (within 6 months to 1 year of promotion from Level 2):

Learn & Demonstrate skill independently within budgeted labor hours to Clear Air quality standards

1. Unassisted equipment removal.

2. Learn job layout.

3. Proficient in installing duct work system up to code and Clear Air standards.

4. Basic understanding of more complex metal fittings.

5. Understand basis ductwork installation… round and rectangular duct

6. Basic understanding of more complex sheet metal fittings…able to measure transitions.

7. Able to install accessories.

8. Able to run complete line voltage circuits.

9. Able to complete and follow through on job changes

10. Braze refrigeration lines.

11. Ability to test line sets.

12. Able to charge condensers and heat pumps.

13. Assisting in light commercial change outs.

14. Able to install hot water heaters.

15. Assist in installation of mini-split systems.

16. Advanced electrical knowledge (load center requirements, wire gauge requirements).

17. Advanced low voltage wiring (heat pump, two stage a/c, zoning, thermostat programming and setup.

18. Control wiring, communicating t-stat, wire zone dampers, duct detector and remote test stations.

19. PVC venting, including equivalent length calculations

20. Proficient in installing furnace up to code and Clear Air standards.

21. Proficient in installing air conditioning systems & mini-splits to code and Clear Air standards.

22. Proficient in installing indoor air quality equipment to code and Clear Air standards: Air Cleaners & UV Lights.

23. Can work on custom homes and commercial projects unassisted and without immediate supervision.

24. Ability to fill out all paperwork accurately.

25. Able to supervise others.

Performance Indicators:

Certain key business indicators that will measure effectiveness of the HVAC Installer Level 3. These include:

Timeliness of work

Customer satisfaction

Level of demonstrated desire to learn

Level to which dress code is adhered

Level to which company procedures are adhered to

Level to which safety policy is adhered to

Number of on time arrivals

Number of times projects are not installed on schedule

Number of call backs on workmanship

Cleanliness and organization of work site and work vehicle

Accuracy of paperwork including time cards

Number of times fittings are installed incorrectly

Number of tool/equipment breaks due to lack of maintenance or proper use

Working Conditions:

Varying work conditions exist with this position. Uncontrolled environments included with this position are: Job Sites in various phases of construction, Highways/Roadways used with Company Vehicles, Homes owned by Customers including various and intrinsic hazards, Exposure to Weather Conditions. Controlled Environment includes the Air Mechanical Shops/Offices/Warehouses which are maintained in a safe manner.

Physical Demands:

While preforming duties of this position, the employee is required to walk, stoop, balance on feet, talk, hear, squat, climb, reach above their head and drive company vehicle

They will use their hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls

Employee must occasionally lift and/or move objects weighing 50-100 lbs.

Use of vision abilities include, close vision, distant vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to focus.
