As a Project Accountant, you will be on a construction project team based in our Phoenix office and provide accounting support to one or more Project Managers and/or project team(s). This person acts as the key contact for our project team, clients, vendors, and subcontractors. Successful projects do not complete themselves. What you’ll be doing: You will be responsible for tasks including reviewing and evaluating project charges for accuracy, completing cost transfers, establishing and updating funding as needed, instituting and maintaining project budgets, and ensuring that all project data is current for our complex semiconductor projects. You will generate accurate and thorough financial documentation and reporting regarding our construction projects working in tandem with project managers on pre-billing information review, cost estimates, and invoicing. Our project accountants ensure that responsibilities are delivered and adhered to with a level of quality that meets or exceeds acceptable industry standards, supporting the delivery of solutions to clients. Project Accountants at Harder perform the following daily tasks:
Issue and distribute invoices
Process new contracts and sales
Collaborate with other departments to ensure billing accuracy
Address customer complaints and questions
Keep track of accounts receivable and transactions
Assist with customer account reconciliations
Prepare and present analytical reports
Support monthly and quarterly audits and clean ups
Resolve any issues or mistakes
What you will need to be successful in this role:
Proven experience as a billing analyst or similar accounting role
Good knowledge of electronic billing procedures and conceptual understanding of online database use
General understanding of billing processes and the construction process is essential
Understanding of project cost and change management concepts
Advanced Excel skills including experience with pivot tables, formulas, and data manipulation
Proficient in use of Microsoft Office suite; familiarity with databases and SQL is an asset
Strong verbal and written communication skills required
Proficient in general computer skills
Highly skilled at organization and time management
Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
Ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines
Collaborative team player
Eligibility for client badging
Education/Experience:
3+ years of experience in similar construction or project-based accounting role
BS/BA in accounting or similar field
Previous cost engineer experience
Previous project accounting experience
Familiarity with mechanical systems
