Residential Construction Opportunities
Alaska, Southeast alaska, 99801 Southeast alaska USAHiring for Residential Construction Projects
We pay $20/hr for laborers starting and $35/hr+ for carpenters that can work independently of off plans with occasional questions. We're always on site, you don't need to be able to run the whole job but if you can all the better. We gladly will pay well above starting levels for those that demonstrate competency and productivity. There's no set pay bands, its all about how well you do your work. We offer paid benefits for long-term employees including a 5% 401K match, paid vacation, and bonuses for reaching company milestones. The majority of our team has been with us for years.
We self-perform a diverse range of work including road excavation, site prep, foundations, flat work, framing, roofing, siding, and all sorts of interior finishes. We primarily operate in one location and all management/office support is on-site. Current projects under construction include single-family homes in various stages of completion, a 48-unit apartment complex, and tree clearing for another 19-lot subdivision that we should be excavating this winter into next year. We also have a pipeline of single and multi-family development projects in various stages permitting/engineering/concept selection. We have enough land for the next 20 years.
We're looking to hire experienced carpenters and laborers. You can do what you already do well, or learn new skills and grow in responsibility if that's your ambition. We're always looking for better ways to do what we do, we invest in new tools/tech/building methods. We don't chase all the latest trends in the building science magazines, but we have an engineering background in the company that shows up in our decisions. We're practical, we build for ourselves and that gives us flexibility. So, if an employee comes to us with a good idea, we listen. We're not afraid to try new things, so long as the numbers support it. For example, after seeing some videos about Power Screeds an employee asked why he didn't see them used around here. We looked into, realized we were in the stone-age without one but you can't even buy one locally, so we got the tool sent up from one of our concrete tool suppliers in time for this 48-unit project.
There are also opportunities for piece work coming up on the apartment project either as employee or as a properly licensed and insured subcontractor.
If this sounds like the sort of place you'd like to work, please respond to this post via email with your name, phone number, resume or brief employment history and what kind of work you are interested in.
