The role of the Residential Support Specialist is dual: to work closely with JAMHI Clinical Case Managers in making sure residential services are delivered, and to conduct limited property management functions. Residential Support Specialists are responsible for providing services to residents in the general milieu. Residential Support Specialist will maintain program structure through direct contact and informal counseling with residents, crisis intervention, enforcement of rules, and monitoring of the facility, will operate the reception desk 24 hours per day, and will assist with other duties. Residential Support Specialist will facilitate therapeutic activities and engage with tenants through these activities. Please email a current resume and 2 references for consideration. CASE MANAGEMENT

Provide on-going trauma-informed case management services to program participants. Case management services include: short and long term planning, financial planning, advocacy, harm reduction interventions, etc.

Maintain relationships with common referral providers, including JAMHI, BRH, T&H, and RRC. Understand their intake systems and be prepared to navigate those systems with participants.

Provide tenant transportation and oversee tenant service plans.

ADVOCACY

Oversee the building entrance and monitor cameras for safety and security of tenants.

Provide crisis intervention, advocacy and support.

Respond to emergencies and call emergency medical support as needed.

Provide assessment of program participant’s immediate safety needs and perform wellness checks.

Assist tenants through positive role modeling, individual advocacy and other referrals to community resources.

Request law enforcement officers for an immediate danger to tenants or staff, as appropriate.

Assist in the training of new relief, permanent or volunteers on policies and procedures as requested.

Perform security checks of the facility throughout the shift and ensure facility safety.

Coordinate meal preparation and clean up according to standards.

Participate in the performance of other tasks essential to program and household operation and maintenance.

Work to create and maintain a cohesive community among tenants while interacting in a positive and therapeutic manner.

Answer phones and respond to community and neighborhood concerns and complaints as needed.

Oversee visiting hours to maintain building safety among tenants.

Assist tenants in following their Tenant Code of Conduct and Lease Agreement.

OTHER STAFF TASKS:

Meet regularly with supervisor for supervision and support.

Facilitate wellness and other group and individual activities, such as garden activities, as needed.

Perform record-keeping activities associated with tenants or as required for data collection or inter-staff communication via log.

Attend meetings and staff trainings as scheduled.

Comply with JHFC Personnel and Administrative Policies.

Other tasks as assigned by the director and/or supervisor.

Comply with cleaning procedures around the building and in units as appropriate.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Must pass JHFC background check.

Must have high school diploma/GED. Degree not required but preferred.

Must have valid driver’s license.

Must be over 21 years old

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Must have a profound respect and compassion for all people.

Must have an understanding and appreciation of the housing first philosophy and/or willingness to learn.

Must have strong boundaries and compassion.

Must have experience working with vulnerable populations.

Must have a basic understanding of substance abuse and mental illness.

Must have ability to work independently and with others.

Must have strong problem solving skills, flexibility, and ability to multi-task.

Must have excellent written communication skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office Programs and other software.

Must have the ability to remain objective and to perform under stressful conditions.

Must have the ability to represent JFHC professionally in court and with other community partners.

Must have the ability to understand and communicate with people of different socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds.

Must maintain confidentiality.
