Job Description

The MLO proactively solicits new residential mortgage business and sells mortgage products to meet established loan quality and production goals. In this sales role, the incumbent continually identifies, develops and maintains a quality network of business relationships that serves as a recurring source of referrals for new mortgage lending opportunities which includes real estate professionals, builders, professional and personal contacts as well as other valuable sources. The MLO responds to customer inquiries and referrals that are generated from both their network and from other Bank business channels. Conducts interviews with prospective borrowers in order to analyze financial and credit data, determine appropriate financing objectives, advises customers of product/pricing policies and guidelines and gathers additional information that may be required. The MLO ensures exceptional customer service by maintaining thorough knowledge of lending programs, policies, procedures and regulatory requirements.

Primary duties/responsibilities include:

· Prospecting for new mortgage lending opportunities.

· Interviews prospective applicants or meets with established customers.

· Obtains necessary information and assists with the loan application process.

· Performs pre-qualification assessment and analysis of financial condition and risk of financial requests.

· Negotiates loan terms, conditions and pricing within established lending limits.

· Meets with customers as necessary during the various stages of the loan process.

· Provides complete loan applications to Underwriter or processor as applicable.

· Ensures exceptional customer service experience by overseeing the loan process from origination to closing and providing continual communication to customers.

· Provide direction and leadership to the retail staff located in the Branch to ensure the team is meeting the expectations of the Bank and of the customers.

Position requires a BS/BA degree and/or an equivalent combination of experience/education including 2-5 years mortgage lending experience with a well developed referral base and source network. Thorough knowledge of FHA, VA, and CONV guidelines. S.A.F.E. registration required.

Effective communication skills both written and verbal; effective time management/organizational skills with the ability to work independently with strong initiative and reliability. Knowledge of retail banking beneficial.
