Responsible for developing and executing health and safety plans in the workplace along with human resource needs according to legal guidelines. Prepare and enforce policies to establish a culture of health and safety along with employee relations. Evaluate practices, procedures and facilities to assess risk and adherence to safety and human resource law. Responsibilities include training on company benefits, safety, accident investigation, corrective actions, industrial hygiene, safety communication and management of our workers’ compensation claims, safety records, EEO1 and Veteran reports. Help with interview process, employee retention and discipline. Maintain, coordinate and audit a comprehensive health, safety and environmental program with emphasis on accident prevention and compliance with MSHA, OSHA, EPA, DEQ and DOT. Travel is essential to customer locations and other facilities.

Required –

  • BS Degree in industrial/hygiene, safety or environmental or human resource or equivalent experience in health/safety or human resource
  • Proven ability to develop and coordinate ongoing and new safety concepts and programs and/or human resource policies
  • Strong interpersonal, analytical and presentation skills
  • Demonstrated computer competency –Microsoft products
  • General understanding of Industrial Hygiene
  • General understanding of employment law
  • Education or experience in OSHA, MSHA, EPA, DEQ and DOT compliance
  • Working knowledge of NFPA, NEC, Workers’ Compensation, risk and liability process management including business insurance
  • Understanding of employee relations, training and development
  • Understanding of benefits, compensation and employment law
  • Clean driving record – travel is essential

Preferred-

  • MSHA, OSHA, First Aid and Rigging Certified Instructor
  • Human Resource certification from a national organization
  • Experience in manufacturing and welding on mining equipment
  • Industrial hygiene experience
  • Leadership
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Certified Mine Safety Professional (CMSP)
  • Familiar with an HRIS
