Job Definition: Among other duties, the Controller is responsible for managing the Accounting Department functions; the Department’s main functions are to 1. provide information (primarily financial in nature) of Company activities to aid management, the board of directors, and investors to make informed decisions; and, 2. provide internal control functions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage the functions and responsibilities of the Accounting Department and Human Resources Department

  • Execute requests by Senior Management

  • Report corporate results and budget variances and ensure all reporting information is accurate and consistent to the Vice President

  • Prepare all financial and accounting reports

  • Prepare corporate budgets using information from various departments

  • Prepare cost analysis, investment analysis and supporting documentation for managerial decision process

  • Maintain corporate records using generally accepted accounting principles

  • Maintain all capital asset records

  • Responsible for corporate cash management

  • Responsible for corporate income tax planning

  • Assure corporate income tax compliance to assure the accurate and timely completion of all corporate income tax returns taking full advantage of all favorable tax codes (Federal, State and Local)

  • Oversee financial administration of all employee benefit plans

  • Review and approve the company payroll

  • Administer liability and casualty insurance

  • Develop and administer internal control policies and procedures

  • Assist other departments in providing information pertaining to cost control

  • Conform with all safety and security rules and oversee appropriate use of office equipment

  • Participate in a wide variety of special projects and compile a variety of special reports

  • Lead, manage, and mentor all members of the department to ensure all members are trained and professional

Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Demonstrate knowledge of general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll and governmental regulations and income tax

  • Demonstrate knowledge of employee benefit administration, especially health & welfare programs

  • Financial statement analysis

  • Be detail and results oriented, with multi-tasking ability

  • Ability and desire to work in a team-oriented environment as well as independently with absolute delivery deadlines

  • Strong oral and written communication and presentation skills

  • Leadership, supervisory and managerial skills

  • Strong planning and organizational skills

  • Strong computer skills

Minimum Qualifications: A Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Management, or related field. CPA, CMA, MBA or a relevant accounting qualification preferred. Five plus years of finance and accounting departmental management experience preferred. Be able to pass various background and drug testing. Must be legally eligible to work in the U.S. without restriction.
