Summary/Objective

The Johnson County Drug Court Coordinator is responsible for working with the local drug court program and with other programs from around the state and attending meetings, grant writing, seeking out other funding possibilities for the drug court program, also helping out with other programs conducted out of the Johnson County Office. This position’s responsibilities include working with both adults and youths in program compliance, including on call time that can result in call outs any time of the day.

Essential Functions

  • Work with local courts and law enforcement agencies in monitoring ongoing compliance with offenders in the drug court process.
  • Work with Drug Court State Coordinator and network with other Drug Courts in the State.
  • Provide clerical support to all staff and program director as required.
  • Prepare reports and documentation for the State, Courts and other agencies.
  • Communicate with VOANR admin and governmental agencies regarding contracts and maintain currency of government contracts.
  • Work with Drug Court Partners in seeking outside funding opportunities (I.E. Grant Preparations).
  • Perform both DOT and non DOT drug and alcohol screenings using established protocols for all methods of technical analysis utilized by VOANR.
  • Complete specimen shipment to appropriate laboratories and transmission of required paperwork to designated MRO’s.
  • Possess a good understanding of the color code notification system used by court ordered testing participants.
  • Attend meetings and trainings as needed.
  • Attend court proceedings as required.
  • Complete client management documentation in a professional and timely manner.
  • Occasionally required to assist the Juvenile Probation Coordinator with clients when needed.
  • Occasionally required to travel on company business utilizing company.
  • Conduct trainings for Drug Court personal and other agencies.
  • Participate in the on call schedule and be able to respond at all time of the day or night when on call.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no supervisory responsibility.

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as laptop computers, photocopiers, and smartphones.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets, and bend or stand on a stool as necessary.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is part time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday. 4 Hours a day or 20 hours a week. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

Travel

Travel is expected for this position.

Preferred Education and Experience

  • High school diploma with two years’ experience working in social or criminal justice field.
  • Be certified, or become certifiable in necessary testing protocols used by Testing Solutions, such as DOT certification, Non-DOT certification (for both UA and BA), Hair Follicle Testing Certification.
