Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A.), Masters preferred
  • Two to five years HR generalist and associate relations experience.
  • Experience in a high customer contact setting.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports and legal documents.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.
  • Computer proficiency, including Excel, Word, Publisher and PowerPoint preferred.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
  • SPHR/PHR Certification preferred

Key Responsibilities:

Training

  • Coach/train manager/supervisors on performance evaluations, SMART goals, career path/succession
  • Serve as a resource to department managers and other employees.
  • Coordinates management training including but not limited to interviewing, hiring, terminations, promotions, performance review, safety, and sexual harassment HR 101
  • Directs and coordinates preparation of position descriptions, ensures FLSA classification compliance and oversees job evaluations
  • Designs and implement effective performance management plan attends operational meetings to increase HR visibility, conduct classroom training, provide assistance and implement account HR initiatives.

Personal Matters

  • Establishes and maintains solid working relationships with managers/supervisors and employees
  • Coordinates/conducts exit interviews to determine reasons behind separations.
  • Assist with benefits administration and ensure documentation for regulatory compliance.
  • Provides guidance and training to supervisors on employee counseling and disciplinary actions, participate as necessary in disciplinary meetings and terminations
  • Responds to written and verbal inquiries regarding resolving problems, providing information and/or referring to appropriate personnel and/or identifying the relevant issues
  • Participates in meetings involving a range of issues as needed and/or assigned for developing recommendations and/or supporting other staff.
  • Oversees the unemployment insurance and claims process to include reporting and participation in appeal hearings

Hiring

  • Direct the hospital recruitment and retention program to ensure availability of appropriate staffing resources.
  • Conducts recruitment effort for all exempt and nonexempt personnel, students and temporary employees including place advertisements, working with supervisors to screen and interview candidates, conducting reference checks; extending and job offers.
  • Reviews applications and interviews applicants to match experience with specific job-related requirements
  • Uses traditional and nontraditional resources, such as career fairs, online job fairs, community network events, etc., to identify and attract quality candidates
  • Works to develop and conduct training programs for managers with a goal of improving recruiting and hiring efficiencies and reducing turnover

Compliance

  • Identifies critical needs areas and takes appropriate steps to rectify problems.
  • Conducts HR Assessments.
  • Plan, organize and direct all aspects of human resources management to ensure fair and equitable treatment of all employees, compliance with company policies, and manage legal aspects of employee/employer relationships.
  • Develops and implements policies and procedures and maintains current handbook
  • Provides advice and counsel to managers and supervisors regarding personnel practices, policy and employment laws
  • Maintains and expand knowledge and understanding of existing and proposed federal and state laws/regulations affecting human resource management.

Benefit Administration

  • Administers employee benefits programs such as retirement plans; medical, dental, vision plans; life insurance plans; temporary disability programs; and wellness programs
  • Develops specifications for new plans or modify existing plans to maintain JCHCS's competitive position in labor market
  • Serves as primary contact for plan vendors and third-party administrators. Coordinate transfer of data to external contacts for services, premiums and plan administration.
  • Manages enrollment, change, termination processing
  • Administers coordination of FMLA including employee education and communication, tracking and payroll/supervisor notifications
  • Manages workers’ compensation including the coordination of reporting of injuries to insurance carrier, modified work, return to work, and claims follow up
  • Ensures distribution of required employee notices
  • Ensures compliance with applicable government regulations including Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA) and the Affordable Care Act (ACA)
  • Liaison with payroll

  • Creates a comprehensive and sustainable employee engagement strategy
  • Responsible for assessing current state of engagement, inclusion and diversity across the enterprise, to identify opportunities for enhancements and improvements in both structure and effectiveness, and to ensure consistency with business and customer needs: company-wide culture, strategy, values, behaviors; and industry best practices.
