Vacancy expired!

This is an opportunity for someone who is interested in the building trades, but is not sure which field to pursue.

Looking for someone to help me with various repairs on homes that I own or manage. I am willing to train but hopefully, you are a fast learner and mechanically inclined. I am a licensed architect so we do everything the right way. I work year-round and can give you as many hours as you would like. We work hard. We move a lot of heavy materials and equipment. You must be comfortable working on ladders and on the roof. You must be comfortable working with a shovel to power tools. Hopefully, you know how to read a measuring tape.

You must have your own reliable transportation. I need to emphasize this. You need to have your own transportation, not someone who will drop you off and pick you up each day. Furthermore, you don't need to drop off or pick up kids or any other obligations that will interrupt or shorten our workday. We work from 8 to 4:30. Most of the work is in the Metro Milwaukee area. Hopefully, you also live in the metro Milwaukee area. I have had applicants say they are willing to make a 45-minute commute. It just does not seem to work out for either party.

I have been doing this for over 30 years. Three guys that worked for me in the past started as laborers. Over time, they gained enough knowledge that they each formed their own successful general contractor company. The person you would be replacing has decided he likes working as an electrician, so he is going to start an electrical apprenticeship.

At a minimum you will learn to install, doors, windows, siding, run electrical lines, run plumbing lines, install roofs, replace furnaces and hot water heaters, build walls, drywall.

I pay on a weekly basis with a one-week holdback. I consider you an independent contractor, so I don't take out money for taxes. Starting pay would be $17 per hour but I would be willing to adjust immediately depending on your efficiency and skills.

I have received a lot of responses with clearly over-qualified candidates. To these candidates, please understand that I don't doubt your value, but I just can't afford you. This job offering is probably for someone who wants to start a new career or change careers.

If this ad is still posted, then the position is still available.

I would prefer you text me if you are interested. I will get back to you by the evening. Text 414-374-6896

Thank you,

Ray
