Come join one of the most exciting teams in the Milwaukee restaurant industry! Odd Duck is a fast-paced, well-established small plates restaurant with an ever changing menu currently located in the Bay View neighborhood of Milwaukee, with plans to move soon to a new location in the Walker's Point area. As we gear up for this move, we are looking to solidify our post-pandemic management team. If you are self-motivated & self-directed and interested in constant learning and exploration, this is the job for you! Management experience a plus, but not a necessity. Intense interest in food, wine & cocktails and strong leadership skills required.

Pay Rate: Salaried, Negotiated.

Hours: 40 hours per week, mix of nights and days. Must have flexible schedule with consistent weekend availability.

Major Responsibilities:

Host Stand Maintenance: Listen to and return voicemails, general phone maintenance. Plot and re-plot all reservations as necessary. Maintain reservation computer systems. Update & maintain voicemail messages. Update host stand procedures & oversee support staff from the host stand on a nightly basis.

Floor Supervision: Oversee floor operations and all Front of House staff . This includes the bar, host stand, servers, and expo area. Support staff and help in any way necessary to ensure a smooth shift. This includes, but is not limited to: assisting in seating, bussing, dishwashing, serving, running food/drinks, and expediting. Address any guest concerns/issues. Make sure staff gets fed via discounted ordering or family meal. Address any computer issues, authorize comps or voids. Print, proofread & program menus into computer system, upload to internet, communicate changes to all staff. Hold pre-shift meeting with assistance of chefs. Make cuts when business requires. Leave detailed communication via manager emails.

Money management: Count and maintain safe balance and balance in all drawers. Accept server drops, make change throughout shift, make deposits at bank.

Bar/Supply Management: Ordering and inventory of coffee, tea, soda, paper products – possibly also beer and liquor and other bar supplies. Maintain bar systems and storage areas, oversee bar prep work for cocktail program. For the right person, cocktail menu creative control with oversight by Beverage Director. Helping direct guests on beverage program nightly – liquor, wine & beer knowledge required. Continuous on-the-job learning required.

Other Duties May Include:

-Attend Management meetings.

-General organization/maintenance of restaurant.

-General administrative and office duties - filing, data entry, accounts payable, etc.

-Hiring, training, scheduling, disciplining & firing staff.

-Organization, promotion and execution of events/private parties.

Proficiencies required:

-Basic computer skills – Microsoft Excel and Word.

-Experience in serving & bartending in either high volume or fine dining restaurants (preferably both)

Proficiencies desired:

-Data Entry experience (QuickBooks)

-Social Media experience (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram)

-Familiarity with various POS systems & Reservation systems from both front end & office side (we currently use Toast and Resy, so experience in those particular ones is helpful!)

-Familiarity with SLACK (we use this for team communication)

Licenses desired: (We will reimburse costs if we hire someone who does not yet have either or both)

-Bartender License

-Food Safety Manager Certification
