As a Junior VFX Artist you will join our high-caliber VFX team as we continue to develop the best game experiences in the industry. In this entry level position, you will work alongside and train with experienced Raven VFX artists as you focus on the aesthetic and technical implementation of in-game VFX content for our high-profile titles. This is a great opportunity to further develop your skills, help the team, improve your portfolio, and see your work on the market. This is an 18 month temporary position.

Priorities can often change in a fast-paced environment like ours, so this role includes, but is not limited to, the following responsibilities:

  • Create, edit, and optimize realistic visuals effects for the FPS genre using proprietary real time particle systems.
  • Quickly learn and adapt to new tools, processes, and pipelines

  • Communicate and collaborate effectively with the development team to create FX for stunning environments and compelling moments.

  • Identify and report technical issues

  • Work with your team lead to meet training and coaching expectations and assignments

Player Profile

Minimum Requirements:

  • Proven skills and the fundamental understanding for developing realistic high-quality visual effects using real time particle editors for console hardware (Xbox, PS, PC.)

  • Proven knowledge of Art skills (e.g. knowledge of composition, color, 3d modeling and painting).

  • Friendly, helpful, and collaborative in a team-based environment; self-motivated, results-oriented self-starter with a strong artistic vision

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, with a basic ability to communicate visually utilizing traditional media

  • Open to feedback, creative problem solver, and presents a compelling vision

  • Strong understanding of FPS gameplay and knowledge of the best-in-class games in the genre.

Extra Points:

  • Photoshop and Maya familiarity & competency

  • Background in modeling, animation, and/or traditional art.

  • Experience with After Effects.

  • Secondary education, Bachelor of Fine Arts or equivalent.

  • Ability to assist with other art tasks, including light 2d, 3d, or concept tasks.

  • Basic awareness of game engine budgets, limits, and memory constraints
