• Northwestern Mutual is seeking a talented Infrastructure Engineer to develop our critical IT-Engineering App Platform Infrastructure to rapidly improve the development speed, quality and delivery of our web-based applications hosted on-premises and on public cloud platforms.
• As DevOps maturity is desired for this position, we are looking for individuals who thrive in environments that stretch them beyond the traditional Infrastructure Engineering skill sets and get them much more closely involved in understanding the needs of the deployed workloads.
• The On-Prem CaaS team is deploying and configuring Kubernetes clusters for our API-Management team and then other consumers.
• You will be imbedded into a Dev. Ops. team to assist and take an “Automate everything” approach (from Server provisioning to applying environment-specific App Platform configurations).
• Help the team move workloads from on-premises to container-based solutions. Take a secure first approach and have appropriate guardrails around quality.
• Establish monitoring and automation processes to increase efficiencies.
• Understand Web and App design from end to end which involves firewall, DNS, load balancer

• Hands-on experience with a Kubernetes installer (e.g. kubeadm, Bootkube, Kubespray, Rancher, Kops, etc.)
• Terraform or similar provisioning technology (like Puppet)
• Ansible or similar infrastructure configuration technology (like Python)
• Automation pipeline development (GitLabCI, Jenkins, Travis)
• Web Servers (NGINX, Apache HTTP Server)
• F5 or similar advanced Load Balancer technologies
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to workcollaboratively with a team and with other teams to deliver project goals.
• Experience working in an agile development environment.
• VMWare vSphere or similar VM management system
• Solid understanding of networking and security concepts
• Expertise in analyzing and troubleshooting large-scale distributed systemsusing performance and availability metrics
