The individual will assist with media coverage for agency events and assist in implementing a statewide public information program. Individual performs related work as required and other duties as assigned. This position will be video and photo-intensive; this includes the ability to edit video independently in an office setting. Travel to video/photo assignments that will be conducted alongside the communications specialist will also be necessary. Prior experience with shooting and editing video is required, and examples of previous video work will be requested ahead of the interview.

Work Environment: This position operates in an indoor office environment, sitting, standing, walking, using a computer and other office equipment, performing calculations, and communicating orally and in writing. Some travel with overnight stays may be required. The successful candidate must be willing to communicate regularly with the communications specialist, who will be working primarily in a separate agency headquarters.

Examples of Work and Desired Experience:

  • Shoots and edits video for agency educational and promotional use.
  • Has intermediate-level or better experience with both Adobe Premiere Pro and Adobe

Photoshop, or experience with Final Cut Pro as an alternative to Adobe Premiere Pro. AdobeInDesign experience is beneficial, as well, but not a requirement.

  • Experience with multiplatform storytelling and a willingness and eagerness to share ideas about creative and unique ways to communicate with an audience.
  • Assists in the planning of special conservation events.
  • Attend public meetings and events to gather information for materials written.
  • Collect information for and writes news releases covering regular and periodic activities of the

Agency and Conservation Districts.

  • Assists with posting on official agency social media platforms.
  • Is willing to help design graphics or design your own graphics using Adobe Photoshop and

Illustrator. (Experience with Illustrator is desirable but not a requirement.)

  • Has graduated or is currently majoring in a journalism or communications-related field in college or at a university.

Additional Requirements:

  • Dependable transportation required.
  • Flexibility in schedule to travel.
  • Physical ability to lift and maneuver 40 lbs.
  • Physical ability to stand for extended periods of time.
  • Pre-employment drug and alcohol testing.
  • Pre-employment law enforcement background investigation.
  • Valid driver’s license.
