Job Description

The

Real Estate Escrow Assistant is responsible for assisting with activities related to the real estate closing function on the escrow side. This position also provides support to the servicing team with tracking final documentation and other miscellaneous duties as needed.

Principal AccountabilitiesEscrow Processing

  • Open escrow files for closing on real estate transactions through SMS, providing required disclosures to borrower, ordering payoffs, answering questions, etc.
  • Review title reports, clearing all liens and judgments, resolving title defects, satisfying any encumbrances against property or principals.
  • May assist with preparation of borrower documentation in compliance with federal and state requirements and under guidance of the Staff LPO.
  • Must be able to obtain a notary to assist with signing borrower documentation under guidance of the Staff LPO.
  • Complete closing by recording and filing documents, preparing and distributing final closing statements, and packaging lender documents.
  • Balance file with lender for disbursement; close file by balancing and disbursing funds.
  • Review and approve outgoing wires for the Staff LPO when needed.
  • Assist with maintenance of payoff reconveyance tracking.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of one year real estate closing and/or mortgage lending or servicing experience required.
  • Working knowledge of mortgage terms, title insurance, and procedures related to mortgage closing, in addition to property vesting, chain of title and lien perfection processes is preferred.
  • Proficient knowledge of MS Office programs including Outlook, Word and Excel.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills required, including maintaining positive relationships and excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a diverse work group, as well as independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to adapt to changes and prioritize and manage competing demands.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret data and understand and communicate complex and diverse information.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations exercising flexibility and sound judgment in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong work ethic required, including the ability to complete duties on time, consistently arrive at work on time as scheduled, and ability to work flexible hours and overtime as needed.

Physical Abilities

  • Must be able to regularly talk, hear, and operate a computer keyboard and mouse.
  • Occasionally lift, pull/push, and carry up to 10 pounds.

Work Environment

  • Exposure to constant or intermittent sounds at a low or moderate level consistent with an office setting.
  • Exposure to high-stress, fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment.
