Find your future with us.Boeing Defense Space and Security (BDS ) is seeking a motivated and dedicated System Safety Engineer (Mid-Level, Lead, or Senior) to join the Safety and Mission Assurance team in the Puget Sound area in Tukwila, WA .Our team is currently hiring for a broad range of experience levels including, Mid-Level, Lead and Senior Level System Safety Engineers.At Boeing, Safety is at the core of everything we do. As a System Safety Engineer, you will have a unique opportunity to work across the entire life cycle of the Mobility & Surveillance programs, from conceptual development into design and test, production and sustainment of the fielded aircraft. This position is focused on the USAF E7-A program based in the Tukwila. You’ll experience the big picture and fascinating complexities of the defense industry while getting hands on experience on the aircraft.The Systems Safety team performs the Systems Safety effort for each of the Mobility & Surveillance products including analysis and oversight for basic aircraft functions, as well as owning the design safety activities for the aircraft’s mission systems. Additionally, the team provides guidance and integration to Mission Assurance and other adjacent functions including Environment, Safety, and Occupational Health teams such as airworthiness, design for Environment, Health and Safety, and the Hazardous Materials Management Program.Position Responsibilities:
Lead and Implement Systems Safety analysis activities
Identify and mitigate all potential and existing hazards
Collaborate with Engineering Design Teams while learning all of the aircraft subsystems and their interactions
Ask tough questions, challenge conventional thinking and bring potential hazards to light for our aircraft and crew
Assess Engineering documents, data and artifacts, while working with Engineering Teams to determine the safest and most cost-effective solutions to actual and potential hazards
Gather data from field, factory and engineering, calculating probability and severity of possible outcome and work with Design teams to influence a safer more robust system
Collaborate with all levels of Engineering and Program Management and Customers
This position is hybrid. This means that the selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options. This is at the hiring team’s discretion and could potentially change in the future.This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry
3+ years of experience in technical or engineering field
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
5+ years related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
10+ years related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Experience in Systems Safety and/or Systems Engineering disciplines
Experience in aviation safety systems engineering
Experience with Mil Standard 882-E
