What remains constant is our commitment to being a force for good for the candidates, associates, customers and communities that we serve.Job SummaryOur Payroll Manager will oversee all payroll services for our permanent staff that service our associates and customers. We operate in all 50 states, Canada, and Puerto Rico. The Manager will provide guidance to our Payroll team and manage relationships with important third party service providers. The position will lead a team of 2 in North America and is supported by a team of 2 in our Gurgaon, India office. This team processes biweekly payroll for 3,500 employees in Canada, US, and Puerto Rico using the Oracle HCM payroll module. This position reports to the Director, Payroll Strategy and Systems. While the team is predominated located in Tacoma, Washington, this position is available to remote work environments. This position works closely with finance and operational leadership to evaluate and implement payroll solutions to minimize risk and maximize the profitability of the organization. The key responsibilities for this role are:Organizational and Management
Oversee the career growth planning and development activities for department members
Providing timely and specific coaching to staff to contribute to their growth and development
Managing a team including payroll processors supporting our employees in their questions on pay within established SLA commitments on customer service
Monitoring changes in the areas of minimum wage, wage and hour law, sick leave, and other federal, state and local regulations.
Sharing expertise and practices to help ensure a highly competent and professional team
Creating an environment where team members are empowered to take ownership and make decisions
Ensuring information is shared in a clear, concise and collaborative manner
Making staffing recommendations including hiring and terminations; performing annual performance evaluations for team members
Technical & Analytical
Managing payroll systems (Oracle Cloud HCM payroll) to ensure accurate payment of employees
Implementing and monitoring internal controls over payroll system
Creating and interpreting dashboards to identify, monitor, and resolve process inefficiencies
Creating ad hoc reporting and analysis as required by our leadership team
Developing a close working partnership with the IT, Finance, HR, Operations and other Payroll Services departments and help refine practices to obtain synergies and efficiencies
Managing projects and driving process change; researching and resolving compliance issues
Implementing benefit policy changes in a timely manner
Systems
Resolution of all system issues during the payroll cycle
Setting up benefit and leave plans
Leading configuration decisions, requirements definition, testing, and implementation of new laws and regulations in our payroll systems
Resolving issues in our systems by working with our IT department to prioritize, understand, and resolve them
What you bring:
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business or related field
5+ years finance related experience specific to payroll with 2+ years managing a team
Demonstrated experience running operations with high volume, multi-state payroll, and experience analyzing that data
Strong interpersonal skills, including persuasive written and verbal communication skills
Solid organizational and project management skills
Passion for providing excellent customer service
Demonstrated ability to work across multi-functional teams
Demonstrated ability to handle numerous tasks simultaneously and ability to adapt in a fast paced and ever-changing environment
Experience performing ad hoc analysis using advanced Excel including V-look ups, pivot tables, and other related software applications
Experience in Oracle HCM Cloud strongly preferred
Experience in other Oracle Payroll products required
CPP Certification preferred

The salary for this position is anticipated to range from $92,000 - $115,000 per year. This range is a good-faith estimate, based on the qualifications necessary for the position, including experience, training, and other considerations permitted by law. Factors that may be used when making an offer may include a candidate's skills, experience, and geographic location, the expected quality and quantity of work, and internal pay alignment, as needed. An employee's pay history will not be a contributing factor where prohibited by local law.
